Subject: So question regarding modeling (any with the 5th edition rules on hand, please help)

Blood-Drenched Death Company Marine

So I'm working on finishing my eldar off, slowly plugging away at them as best I can.
After I finish them off (someday...) I plan on re-painting my blood angels, pretty much from scratch.
That said, I'm at a bit of a quandary for modeling purposes.
Specifically, modeling my Baal Predators. I plan on having two of them, all told, and need a couple of questions answered.
Firstly, I need to know exactly how weaponry works on *Non-Skimmer* fast vehicles.
Secondly, I know that defensive weapons can always be fired (S:4 or lower, specifically) on the move, assuming you haven't moved so far as to not fire any weaponry. What about template assault weapons?
My quandary is this: Would it be worth it to field a Baal pattern predator with heavy flamers on the side in 5th ed, rather than heavy bolters?
In the past, when I've built Baal predators, I've always put heavy bolter sponsons on them and called it a day. However, if a non-skimmer fast vehicle can move 6" and still fire all weaponry, then the heavy bolters stay.
If the non-skimmer fast vehicle *can't* fire it's heavy bolters on the move, but conversely may fire template weaponry while moving, then it may just be worth it to slap the heavy flamers on there and let that thing roll forwards with my assault squad and death company, tank shocking and cooking anything near it.
Someone in the know, please aid your battle brother, and help me see which choice (rules wise, anyway) would be the most advantageous for me.
Thanks in advance, and take it easy.

You don't know me son, so I'll explain this to you once: If I ever kill you, you'll be awake, you'll be facing me, and you'll be armed. |

This is more of a tactics forum question is it not?

I wasn't sure...went back and forth, but as it has to do with how I model my Baal pred, I thought it might be appropriate to just make the thread here.
I'll ask a mod to move the thread to a proper location if this is indeed posted in the wrong forum.
Take it easy.

Fast Vehicles, whether skimmers or not, can fire all of their weapons if they move at Combat Speed (6", or less). The only difference in the movement rates between skimmers/non-skimmers is that Fast Skimmers move up to 24" at Flat-Out Speed, Fast non-Skimmers move only up to 18" at FOS.

I think his question is: Can you fire a template assault weapon in addition to other weapons, even if you move?
Im afraid I cannot answer you, but if its an assault weapon then you *should* be able to.

MinMax answered my question for me.
Provided I roll a 4+ on the Baal Pred's overcharged engine roll (making it a fast vehicle that turn) I can move combat speed and fire all weapons. Twinlinked assault cannon, and sponson weapons + the defensive pintle stormbolter as well.
I wasn't sure if it would be worth it to arm the pred w/ sponson heavy flamers, or if I should stick with my guns as it were, and use heavy bolter sponsons as I normally do. (Yaaaaay puns...)
Now that I know, I'm sticking with the heavy bolters, as they are (in my opinion) superior to the flamers in all but city-fight esque games or scenarios.
Thank you MinMax, I appreciate the information.
Take it easy everyone,
