i just started playing the operation damocles initiation set and have some quick questions,
1. once a unit is engaged (within 2.5 cm of an enemy) can it move away from that enemy on it's next activation?
ie. therians move into enagement range with UNA during their activation, they do their close combat attacks. Can the UNA unit then move out of close combat and shoot them?
2. you can move then shoot, or shoot then move, so does that mean a unit can shoot then move into engagement range and attack in close combat?

thanks guys. I really like AT-43 but it seems like some of the rules are translated to English kinda vaguely

Yes. The only restriction is that a unit that is engaged can only execute a half move. So it is quite possible, using the example above, for the UNA forces to back away (>2.5cm) and shoot. The surviving Therians on their next turn could shoot, then re-engage in h-t-h -- IF they survive.

Quick. Deadly. Brutal.

Yes.

Please realize that the OD rulebook was only meant as a primer for the "real" rules. There are differences. I based my answers on the full rule set.

Here are two links that you need to keep handy:

AT-43 Fan FAQ: http://docs.google.com/View?docid=dgjk9n73_1gfnf5f Don't let the fact that this is fan-maintained put you off. It has official rulings.

You should be able to find the PDF of the full rules (they released them on their website and since took them down) somewhere on the web. Just google AT-43 Rules.
