hey folks

I've been planning this FW traitor guard stormtrooper army for a while. Going to take the plunge and start by adding some units to my CSM force for apocalypse games.

Since I've never seen the FW renegade militia models up close, anyone happen to know offhand, would those bodies fit well with marine scouts? I was thinking the beefier looking scout arms and legs would help pull off the stormtrooper feel better than plain ole cadian arms and legs, then I would skip the bolters and convert my own hellguns.

Think that would work?

Honestly, I dont think it would.
The renegade models LOOK even smaller than Cadians to me... but they're about the same size, in actuality.

Even SM Scouts are beefier than Cadians. Renegade torso's on Scout legs wouldn't look right at all, IMO.

If you want redegade stormtroopers, I suggest going with Kasrkins & giving them a heretical paint scheme and a few weapon swaps.

Just my opinion.

hehe well the whole point is I wanna use those FW renegades cuz they look so great. I don't want to do a platoon based army with 100 guys because it'll be way too expensive. Over time I could do that, but at first I'll only have a few units so I figured I'd make it a stormtrooper army. I guess I'll go with cadians then.. I could wait to see if those plastic stormtroopers are a reality, but I don't want to wait a whole year :(

hehe I agree, they would But, I already have a "normal" guard army. I want to do something different and fun with this one. In the long run, if I really build it up a lot and if a ST army isn't really doable when the new codex comes out, I'll have a good foundation to build off of if I want to expand it. But since they're saying we're gonna get plastic stormtroopers, I'm expecting them to make them troop choices so that they will sell a lot.

Anyway here is my plan for the army if I was to build it fully:

Doctrins: Chem inhalers, deep strike, carapace armor.

HQ:
CHQ w/ 4 plasmas or meltas deep striking
2 anti-tank squads w/ lascannons.
1 squadron of

Troops:
3 units of grenadiers w/ 2 plasmaguns each. Sgt with plasma pistol. Using renagades + cadians. Each prolly with a Chimera.

Elite:
3 units of drop troop stormtroopers w/ 2 meltaguns, meltabombs prolly just on the sgt.

fast:
2 hellhounds
10 rough riders using the new marine scout bikes + renegade enforcer bodies

Heavy: prolly just 3 russes.

That's just in my head right now. We'll see how it really goes when I actually get to that point.. I don't expect to start on the army for a couple months as i need the cash for the first few units first, plus I'll have to wait a while to get the models after i order em :( I'm going to start with 2 grenadiers, 1 drop troop, and the chq, and I'll use my regular guard tanks at first to get started.
