Hey guys, I just bulk ordered a 2k point necron army. Their home world is snowy/icey. The scheme is white with black guns, and I have ordered blue gauss. I am looking for any conversion suggestions because to be honest, the necron army is pretty bland, and considering I've never seen a necron army with my scheme, I would like something unique. My army has lots of destroyers, and I since I really hate the model, I was wondering if anyone knows how these were done seeing as they are from the dakka gallery:

Any tips or ideas are greatly appreciatted.

Those look like the backs of Tomb Spiders or destroyers, and the feet look a bit like SM shoulderpads (?)

As for the fist, I've never seen them before, unless they're a powerfist converted a bit.

Perhaps for your conversions, you could give them spindly spidery legs, or even make them look as if they are crawling out of the ground. Ive seen some pics of them emerging from the ground, I'll see if I can find them.

ypu, marine (possibly terminator?) powerfists.

The mega-shoulder pads are just the backs of the standard destroyer kit, as are the torsos (presumably on warrior legs). The giant shoes are rather strange, good conversions otherwise.

I don't hate a white colour scheme, but don't also do snow-covered bases, coz white on white is dull. Patches of melting snow on a contrasting colour base will look fine.

What don't you like about the standard Destroyers? If it's just the 'centaur' look, it would be fairly easy to convert them to more of a Tomb Spider look, which I think would look pretty cool.

But if you like the humanoid torso, conversions will be more difficult. Maybe convert some sort of jetbike-looking thingy, with the Destroyer torsos 'riding' inside?

Or an easy suggestion would be to just reverse the torso, with the Necron facing the back, and with the guns placed underneath. It would look a bit like a Jet-bike if you do it well.

I second the spider look, reminds me of spider daleks from one of the books. While you're at it how about a spider monolith?

America... Feth Yeah!

The 'power fists' actually appear to be Immortal hands. The hand that held the top of the gun, held a handle of some sort. It appears the person just cut the hand and handle from the gun all together and did some creative and very well done painting.

I don't think so. All of his other conversions were parts of other Necrons, except perhaps the shoes, but those are too small for SM shoulder pads.

Edit: Nevemind, I see it now.

I PMed the owner of those Necrons.

Hopefully he will be here soon to answer your questions.

I'm pretty sure those are the stock hands that come with the destroyers. Anyways, thanks Blackmoor!

Well gentlemen it is interesting to see the speculation! I created those Necron destroyers. Here are the parts it takes:

Necron Destroyer Kit
2 SPace Marine Shoulder Pads
1 inch of quarter inch barrel rod
Terminator Power fist or declawed Lightning Claw
Tau Stealth Suit body divided at the waste (Legs)

I have some in progress pics I will add to the thread shortly for review. So you can see how it is done.

I am honored that you found these and wanted to convert them. I will say, in the days of battlewagon bits this was easier to do and they are pretty expensive.

Good luck!

If you have any specific questions I'd be happy to help! Good luck!

My Adepticon team also thought that Necrons were woefully under converted armies and that we could overcome the negative perception of the army by doing something unique.

Thanks alot! I probably won't go the tau leg / term arm suit, but instead try to see how warrior legs / stock immortal hand look first. But I will for sure use the jump backs...they look great. Again, thanks and great work.

We did some prototypes with a lot of different combinations, the regular necron hands are not very exciting, the immortal arms are tied into the guns, and the destroyer hand is very spindly. Good luck, I'd like to see what you come up with if you get time to take a pic.

We wrecked a lot of crons to get this far...

D, you should post some picts of the abortive attempts we made before you came up with those. Give a little inspiration and examples of what not to do with Necron Parts!

Hmm, well i would get rid of those shoe caps. The space marine shoulderpads just look ridiculous.

But i would suggest a more "true scale" conversion, straighten up the legs and you get a few mm that will make the look really tall.

The toe caps are what concelaed the Tau legs, because they have cloven feet and that would have been obvious. Seeing as how no one identified the Tau legs as the bottom half of those conversions I would call them a success not rediculous.

...

That said,... We called them the "Hugh Heffners", because they look like giantic Necron Toe Cap Slippers!

We laughed a lot about it, the generals have skulls on their feet from the Chaos version of the shoulder pads and they are cooler, it pulled the theme togther even more.

oops didn't mean immortal, meant Destroyer arms. Is there a reason why you chose to break apart the gun and add the bigger barrel, besides making it look more deadly?

We did it to remove the quad barrel the destroyers have, and to make the gun a little longer. This would also have allowed us to play them as heavy destroyers if we wanted to later as a kind of counts as.

We also completely removed the clear plastic barrels from the whole army. We didnt think the clear green stuff was bad, we just wanted something entirely different from the normal look.
