Subject: IG Snipers?
|
 |
Lone Wolf Sentinel Pilot

Hello Everyone,
Having finished watching 'Enemy At The Gates', I was inspired to make some awesome IG slightly Soviet-esque Guerilla snipers to aid my burgeoning engineer force.
The caps/uniforms of theValhallans kind of fit, but metal is not nice to work with, and the rest of the force aren't in that style. I also think the blister snipers look poor.
Has anyone tried something along these lines? Any help with conversion ideas welcomed,
~sA

Oh, Death was never enemy of ours!
We laughed at him, we leagued with him, old chum.
No soldier's paid to kick against His powers.
We laughed - knowing that better men would come,
And greater wars: when each proud fighter brags
He wars on Death, for lives; not men, for flags. |

Why dont you like Metal ones those are sweet.?
But any ways the only thing you can do is use Plastic Scouts. Easier to convert.

you could do plastic scouts and add West Wind's metal soviet WWII heads.

Did you try Catachan Snipers ? They could so with some GSing I think... and you get 3 per pack.

If I ever do snipers I will probably use the marine scouts mixed with cadian bodies & heads... hopefully they won't look too out of proportion.
I like the catachan snipers too though, the one that's laying down is cool

Well since your in the UK and wanting to go for that soviet look you should invest in some of those westwind soviet heads, the soviet survivor heads from the new alternate ww2 setting are really good and what i used on my snipers.
And my snipers where basically cadian body parts (lots of kneeling legs nicked from heavy weapon spures) with some green stuff and my own guns models from a cut down lasgun mixed with pieces from the scout sniping rifles.
I also used them as specialist teams rather then count as ratlings partly cause i loved modeling the 'spotter' as well as the sniper, lead to some very nice basing.
Anyhow, as kid_kyoto said check out west wind

I used the Voyostrian (sp?) snipers, which are dead sexy models. Very Russian/Eastern European looking, with larger WW2 style weapons. I don't know how easy they are to find in most places, but if you can get them I highly recommend them.

AHH.
Nice idea, Salad_Fingers. Me likey.
I think I'll opt for something along those lines; and I'm getting the German Gas Mask Field Cap heads for the rest of my army, and the bald/non helmeted heads in the Soviet Pack will fit in well as officers etc.
The WW site looks cheap, and of good quality. Do they fit that well with Cadian bodies?
Cheers, all.

I know that you can't see them that well, but I took the catachan snipers, and green stuffed jacket sleeves with a fur trim on one of them, while the other (the one with the cape) I sculpted a polar bear pelt onto him.
I can get better pictures later, if you'd like.

I have some spare WW heads of various sizes that will fit in a normal envelope, just give me a PM if you want me to send you a couple before you order, see if you like em and see how you like the fit. If so just drop me your address

Why thank you, but I must decline. It turns out a mate of mine from the FLHS has got some, and he'll give me a show tomorrow.
Thanks for the offer, however.
