Hey guys what do you think of the cannoness?
This is a picture in process. I haven't taken one yet of the finished product. I painted the base with a city rubble look, added snow over some spots and reduced the shine with a matte Varnish so she isn't as shiney. I will post the finished product soon when my gf who happens to be into minis now and is a photographer will help me get some good pics with the color right. How does this look in its initial stages?
This shows the colors of the army a little better... the purple looks purple and the green metal look comes out on the gun (this is a serephim)

Not a colour scheme I would go for but good table top quality.

Not so certain about the color scheme, but assuming it works, some tips:
I would highlight the edges of the purple armor a bit. I find without this Sisters tend to blend in with themselves since they do not have the more obvious armor plates of marines. Adding some light pink to your purple will do, and really if you don't want to spend much time on it just a straight application on the hard edges (tops of knee plates, edges of lames) will make it stand out a little more.
With Sisters, you really need to put some effort into the faces. I can't really tell from your pictures, but it looks like you just have one color of skin tone on there. Your brushwork looks plenty good, but putting a lighter highlight of very slightly pink skintone on the cheeks, jaw, nose and forehead will help define it a bit. The girls have somewhat mannequin looking faces if you don't highlight a good bit. I usually use three layers of color.
Your lip color is excellent by the way. Very natural, as opposed to the "transvestite red" some people use.
Lastly, hit those girls with Testors Dull Cote. They are way too shiny currently. Sisters have a lot of flat, soft parts like robes, hair and skin that look really wierd when they are hard and shiny looking. A good coat of Dull Cote will leave them looking exactly like they did when you painted them.
If you still want the armor to look glossy, you can always hand paint on a gloss, but really I find highlighting the armor edges does a better job.
See if you can take some better pictures of the hair and cloaks. I might be able to give you some pointers there too.

Thanks, it is a very unusual color scheme. I hope I can get some better pictures out here for you guys to see. I didn't go with the "lets look good from 4 feet away" paint style since I like the detail more. I'm also not a fan of the cartoon look to alot of paint jobs.
Do you have any tips for taking pictures? I've tried white back grounds but if I zoom in anymore then this the images become blurry...
The purple looks better with the snow on the base
I agree the Highlighting is hard to see in the picture so I will do my best to get better pics

I think some better light would go a long way towards helping it out. Some tissue paper in front of two or three white light bulbs would help.
One thing I just noticed is that you shaded with a seemingly dark black over the purple. I might recommend mixing a darker purple to shade with, or using a very thin black ink and going over it twice. The black as is makes for a somewhat harsh transition.

I really like the color scheme - so many of the Sisters armies are bright and garish. Even though you're using some bright colors (and maybe this is the lighting of the models) they look dark and muted. This looks like they've seen some battle. Very nice!
