As it gets closer to the date of the GT I bet you will be able to find a ticket. Keep an eye out for them on Ebay.

Every GT I have ever been to has had a (fairly) sizable number of people not show up and I know of several occasions where people simply show up to the door, pay the fee and get to play.

Of all the GTs I'd say Vegas is best suited for this 'crash' style approach since even if they can't or won't let you into the tournament you still have plenty of other fun stuff around town to do.

Getting my broom incase there is shenanigans.

You know, you don't have to go to all of the GTs.

Take some time off, and treat yourself to some "Greg time".

@Yak - good thought and we figured as much. Just have to weigh the risk.

@Hod - so how fast do you want to lose your money. That's the down side to Vegas. I hate parting with money in gambling and I get bored of gambling very easily. The combination doesn't seem to work very well. I would rather go hiking in the Red Rock Canyons.

@Blackmoor - You should be cast down as a heretic for saying such things. The Inquisition never takes time for themselves. We must purge the unclean.

Isn't there a stant-by list? Or do they just sell the tickets and then everyone is on their own? I'm sure someone is going to know someone that won't be able to go. Networking works!
