Subject: Autarch strategies?

Hiya,
I'm kinda new here and was searching through the forums for ideas on equipping and using Autarchs. I'm toying with the idea of returning to 40K and starting a new army, and I'm pretty much set on Panzees.
So what's the deal with this Autarch guy?
Should I give him a warp generator, fusion gun and run him with Spiders?
Load him up with CC gear and stick him in a mob of Banshees in a Wave Serpent?
What's a good counter-assault build and what kinda squad should back him up for that?
Are they even worth it? Somehow I don't get the impression that they're a must-have character.
Do you guys have favorite builds, ideas that sound promising with 5th Ed., things that look good on paper but aren't? Tell me whatcha got.
And you can discuss your uber1337 jetbike sniper Autarchs, but I'm not gonna bother with that.

Nice first post. Tell me whatcha got but I´m not gonna bother with that.
Jetbilke autarch is leagues better then the other ones. But farseers (esp Eldrad) are alot better.

i love either warp pack, mandiblasters, chainsword and fusion gun in a squad of warp spiders and when they are at the back of the enemy causing havok detaching him and assaulting weak squads or swooping hawks wings, power weapon and banshee mask and put him in a squad of SH and deepstriking him where he needs to be then sending the hawks back up

Having played Chaos & Imperial Marines and Orks in the past, I find that I need to deprogram certain attitudes and expectations towards tactics and characters. I'm so used to characters who function as sledgehammers, whereas Eldar seem to be more rapier & main-gauche style. I like the concept of the Autarch, but I feel like he's less a Captain and more of a beefed-up Exarch without all the options. So spending 100ish points for a special weapon trooper in a fast attack unit seems kinda alien to me, but then again we're discussing Eldar here.
I can't but wonder if I'm missing something with this guy, if there's a more subtle build or strategy for playing him apart from the obvious ones I'm picking up on.
For point of reference I'm thinking of going for a layout that looks like:
Farseer
Autarch
Banshees
2 Dire Avenger Squads
2 Guardian Squads
Warp Spiders
Vipers
Wraithlord
2 Fire Prisms
gets me around 1750 give or take, toss some jetbikes in for 2000pts. Would naturally depend on the fickle whims of the eBay Chaos gods.
But the semantics will be an Army List Forum topic in the near future, so don't worry too much about that part.

Hmm. I understand about the appeal of the fusion gun, but I wonder if the deathspinner is not a better option for a warp spider style autarch. Spiders are already sending out a mass of s6 dakka. Why not add an almost guaranteed 2 hits to that total, rather than trying to make it into a shabby tank hunter. Eldar have much better tankhunting options. Keep the spiders doing what they're meant to.
Anybody actually used the Spider Autarch since the FAQ?
(The preceding is totally biased by the fact that I have recently converted one of these guys, and I chose a deathspinner.)
I like squigherders idea about the swooping hawk autarch too.
Squig what's your thinking behind choosing the chainsword rather than the power weapon on the Spider Autarch?

Please don't feel offended Darrian, I like jetbike people! Some of my best friends are jetbikes people. It's not that I don't like jetbikes, just I don't see them as being an integral part of my Eldar army.
A decent point is made in regards to the deathspinner. My attitude on the fusion gun was that it would add a little more versatility to a unit that may get stuck on its own from time to time. And it would add another potential threat to enemy armor, if bad things happen to my skimmers.
Attitudes on deepstriking Autarchs? Looks like he can come in with either Hawks or Spiders, perhaps this one's worth pursuing?
