I'm making a second SM army. This time the whole thing is custom from the guys to the paint scheme.

My question is what would I need to focus on when making it if I would like to take it to a tournament? I plan on using the GK models for troops due to their unique look. As well I picked up the Masters of the Chapter box (4 models) to use as a retinue for the main HQ unit which is a moded Inquisitor leader to have more SM looking armor.

What would I need to maintain or keep similiar so that its not tossed out as just OP (over powered) and ridiculous. I plan setting up their abilties/special rules based around what I was looking for it to focus on.

If you're looking to take it to a tournament, it's going to have to be GW rules I'm afraid. I can't think of any tournament that would allow you to write your own rules, it would lead to too many conflicts. I would choose one of the current SM chapters for rules, and then make your own fluff and paint scheme.

That's what I figured. I'm basing them loosely off of the Space Wolves, but a little more CC oriented and less Shooty but I suppose it'll be left to exhibition matches and fun times. Oh well, thanks for the info. But I plan on posting some of them as I work on them.
