So I'm starting a little side project. getting bored of painting my marines. I dont want the standard eavy metal blue and white scheme, wanna make the army my own, so I got a couple test models base coated. having trouble deciding still.

I was thinking the blue and orange for a saphery themed army. The white and red maybe for a caledorian, I'll paint a dragon or rune on his shield (maybe, my freehand sucks might find a suitable shield transfer)

Does this sound cool, or lame? Which color scheme does dakka think I should I go with? Any C&C is appreciated.

Funny, I was gonna go with the white/red-trim scheme for my upcoming Caledorian army. Looking at it now...it feels slightly lacking. Maybe the mail skirt could be more of a bronze color?

I like the blue and orange scheme, though I always find HE without white robes a little too darkly colored.

The Blue and Orange isn't bad, but I'd make the orange a little more yellow-y. I like it better than the red and white.

yeah, I was leaning towards the blue and orange. I was planning on highlighting the orange with a yellowish color so that might bring it up a shade. I may eventualy add an allied contingent of caledonians still.

I was planning on making the spearmen of saphery and getting some swordmasters in a similiar scheme. I also have an idea of making a "grand swordmaster". He'll count as a noble with dragon mount. Do you think a blue dragon with yellowish orange underbelly would look good? Not sure if it would be too weird.

That might be a bit too much orange/yellow. Granted, that's mostly speculation on my part.

White and Red was overdone back in 3rd edition. It was the default color scheme in GW publications for High Elves at the time. Personally, I would go for the blue/orange combo all the way. It is unique and, more importantly, it's the same colors I use for my Eldar.

I finally had some time to paint, got some of these elf spearman done. The color scheme looks better In a group I think. I was thinking I'd leave the helmet plumes off the rest, just the front rankers would get 'em, like a badge of honor. Would that look good?

You dont see this color scheme too often so let me know if it makes you puke.

Looks great, just make sure to use orange as an accent....and not overdue it. It's so strong it overrides pretty much anything it's around....

Another thing you have to consider about your scheme is your location. If you go with red and white you peeve off half the people in the state, same if you go with orange and blue.

Just so's ya know...if you go with orange and blue me and my tau got your back.

Yeah, I figure between my crimson hawks chapter and now these elves I have the state colors taken care of
These are my first WHFB minis I've ever painted BTW, smaller than a space marine for sure.

Bastirous go right ahead and use the scheme if you like it. maybe orange and blue will be the new HE standard someday? I would love to see giant badgers in any army.
