How's this for a starting Chaos force? Do I have too many Lords? Would it be good to take a mark with the Warmaster or Lords? Is the ship selection good? I figured the two Murders would be good support for the Hades, with their forward firing lances.

Any input is appreciated!

Thanks,

I think the third Lord is too much. My own fleet has a WM and a Lord, but the second guy is only there because I had points to burn and didn't want any escorts.

Ship selection looks pretty good to me. I don't like escorts for Chaos, but that's a matter of taste.

That one poor Slaughter looks so out of place here. I think I would spend my last 5 points upgrading it to another Murder if you have a 3rd one. This keeps you from getting any 'bright ideas' (I get them all the time ) and helps you makes sure you keep the fleet together.

I have a slaughter in my new 1000 point chaos fleet, and I can't say I was thrilled with it in game. 30cm range on all its guns is harsh, but it's built, painted and fits into my 1000 and 1500 lists so I guess it stays.

Slaughters are amazing. I've seen them used to devastating effect moving in pairs or trios off to flank, but they really shine maneouvering around behind the force, waiting for the enemy to try some fancy maneouver. They can react fast and put punishing fire where it's needed, crippling ships as they pass your line or catching them when they try to circle around.

Well, the dilemma is I only have three ships left to build and I was planning on making them the Hades, the Devastation, and the second Murder.

So should I switch something out to make a second Slaughter? Or would it be okay to hang with one Slaughter?

I guess the thing about a single Slaughter is that she can hang with whatever group of ships she wants, but she's fast enough that she can switch it up pretty fast if she needs to, to support another ship or ships.
