Taking into account that I have never fielded a single SM or CSM Terminator, barring GKs, how might I benefit from CSM Termies in the list I current run?

Generally, I field:
A couple squads of pure Noise Marines
A squad or two of Thousand Sons
A squad or two of 5 melta/plasma Chosen w/ Rhino
Maybe regular CSMs depending on my mood
5-6 Oblits
1 Daemon Prince (never tried Lash yet)

My Chaos have been shelved from battle for months while I work on my Ultramarine company, so tactics are subject to change. I've been given 12 old Termies, yet built, and I want some advice on how to field them; or sell them. Thanks in advance!

Combi-Plasma and Power Weapon are always good. Depending on how many you have in the squad, it may be a good idea to have at least one powerfist in there. Depending on whether or not you plan on deep striking, you can also include a heavy flamer. Do not get champions because they are a waste of points.

I'd say a reaper autocannon and a single powerfist. A lot of people, including me, think that set up is most efficient. You might want to go with double PFs though, if you have trouble with tanks. If your going to DS them in don't equip them with a reaper autocannon. If you run a squad of 10 and plan on running them across the board go with two reaper autocannons.

with 5th coming, is a chainfist wasted on anything but a land raider? also where do termies find their strengths? if i aim for anti infantry, wouldn't champ upgrades do well for the extra attack? i was considering 6 and 6. one deep striking, one walking.

Combi-plasma and power weapons goes a long way. About 1 pf and a hwy flamer is also ok, dislike the reaper since terminators are never long range so might as well go for template to ignore coversaves.

The 10 points you could spend on the champ upgrade is better spent on something that will destroy troops more efficiently. If you honestly think you 'need' the extra attack give a large squad an Icon of Khorne.

I set them up according to my plans. If I'm going to DS them, I use my CC termies who have a few LCs, one PF, some with combi-meltas and a heavy flamer. If they're footslogging I use them with TL bolters or combi-plasmas and a reaper. I also give them an Icon depending on the situation. If they're CC, it's Khorne or Slaanesh, and if it's shooting, it's Nurgle (against lots of heavy weapons), or Tzeentch against mass pulse rifles, bolters etc. IoCG isn't used much since they are already Ld 10 and on't break easily.

People are like dice, a certain Frenchman said that. You throw yourself in the direction of your own choosing. People are free because they can do that. Everyone's circumstances are different, but no matter how small the choice, at the very least, you can throw yourself. It's not chance or fate. It's the choice you made.

How does Nurgle help against lots of heavy weapons? They will still wound you on 2+?

Tz will help a little bit against that but for the point of a banner you get an extra terminator wich is usually better.

i have a hunch that he meant the nurgle and tzneetch marks to be the other way round.

you want to equip termies depending on what role you wish them to fulfill. if you want them to be mobile fire support, give them a RAC and some combi-plasmas. if you want them to deep strike give them a heavy flamer and some combi-weapons depending on what you want dead (flamers for horde, plasmas for MEQs and MCs, Meltas for tanks)

i find that 40-60% powerfists is the best option if you want them to be able to deal with a wide variety of things. so 2-3 ina 5 man squad or 4-6 in a 10 man squad.

with icons tzneetch is the best, followed by nurgle, but this will depend on what armies locally are and the job you want them to do. if you want them to go MC hunting or fight a lot of tau or SM then tzneetch is better. if all you face is horde then nurgle is better. slaanesh and khorne are ok but not as good. i dont put icons into small squad because it makes them too expensive. usually the squad has to be 7+ to make it worth it. obviously bigger squads are better so if you can find the points to feild a 10 man squad do.

there is no point taking champions. powerfists and combi-weapons are a better use of points.

i shy away from dual lighting claw termies because from my experiance shooting does more. i would only have LC termies if i put them in a LR. (as an aside LC termies are good for SMs with a termie chaplin in the squad. re-rolling to hit ~AND wound is much better than to just wound).

If we were to play each other in a tournament, not only would I table you, I would murder you, your family, every woman you ever loved and burn down your house. I mean, what's the point in winning if you allow people that don't take the game seriously to live?
