Two of my favorite kits are the Catachans and the Empire Militia. Without much work you can make just about any human character you need to.

From Imperial guard

to SWAT teams

and even Chibi Gregor Einsenhorn

But I worry. they're both heading into the 10 year mark. The newer kits are light years ahead in detail and the amount of stuff packed into them but lack the flexibility of these late 90s kits. Empire soldiers and handgunners for example have one part bodies and usually one arm molded in place and a hand molded to the weapon. Cadians have the same problem with left arms ending in stumps.

So does anyone know if GW plans to phase these two out? Should I stock up now?

I wouldn't see them doing the militia till at least the next empire army book.. the catchatans, i'm sure they can just keep them going or make them mail order only unless they plan to redo them for the next codex and so far I don't think there's been any rumor of that. I think they'll prolly be around a while

I don't expect GW will phase out the Catachans any time soon. Just because there's no Codex: Catachans anymore doesn't mean they can't or don't get used by IG players. I don't know how well they sell, but there's a lot of them floating around out there.

Man, I wish there was a real Black Library where I could get a Black Library Card and take out Black Library Books without having to buy them. Of course, late fees would be your soul. But it would be worth it. - InquisitorMack

yep.. I was actually planning to get a box or 2 of them, and use catchatans as my conscripts and cadians as the main force

too many projects on deck at the moment though...

I have a box of Catachans in reserve, and need to get more militia for LOTHS plus other sundry projects.

I imagine they'll still show up on ebay and the like for a long time though...

Guinness: for those who are men of the cloth and football fans, but not necessarily in that order.

I think the lesson here is the best way to enjoy GW's games is to not use any of their rules.--Crimson Devil

You'd get some warning, though, as they don't, as a rule, phase out plastics without replacing them with a new version. The Militia will likely be with us for a fair long time to come, as GW would have to replace it with two boxes (Free company and Empire Bowmen).

The supply does not get to make the demands.
