i recently joined a league where the rules state any codex can be used to play as long as it is the most up to date version. someone else then entered his lost and damned army into the league. this got me wondering what other out of print codicies are out there that might be cool to play with or just look through to see the development of wh40k. i realize this isnt exactly a fluff post but i figured this would be the most appropriate place to ask. thanks guys.

Well, I have a soft spot for the Catachan codex, but not sure if it's superceded by the IG one. As to other older ones the only one I can think of that hasn't been replaced (I think) is the SW 13th Co, but that's also in Codex Eye of Teror with Lost & Damned, so it's just one book.

And if you want to be a pain in the rear you could interpret

As meaning the Black Codex from the 2nd Edition Box set and play a Squat army...

get a bunch of guy with the stat line of a guardmen, with lasguns or auto guns.

you can get lemos... AV 10 all around, cant have any weapons. transport.

BUT your geansteelers get the old rending rule. it states in the codex, that all to hit rolls of 6 inflects a wound with no armor saves allowed.

ooo with new trasnport rules, load up your geanstellers in the lemo and buzz forward



it opens up countless doors for conversion opturnity. and you would get a load of cool points if you are allowed to play it at a tourny.

and as i see it. a tourny couldent bar you from bringing it. as it is the latest version of your codex. and GW hasent fluffed it away like the Squ
