Guys
Noone has come up with any detailed fluff on what it takes to make an Imperial Assassin. Its clear that although all the fluff states that, outside the Adeptus Custodes, the Space Marines are the ultimate warriors.....but if anyone has seen the stat lines, Imperial Assassins whoop some serious SM butt.
The only area where the SM get one over on the IA is in the armour area....
Anyway, I was thinking about a couple of times where an Imperial Assassin army has been mobilized, like the attempt to take out some of Abaddons key advisors etc.....
What do you guys think? is it implausible to field an army of Imperial Assassins? Do you think other players would play against such an army?

the 13th crusade war book has fluff about the imperial assassin teams. One took out one of the planets. they let something go supernova and imploded the planet.
They don't have armies. They work in the shadows, or with the Inquisition.
A killteam, or something along the likes of a platoon sized element is what I'd expect for an army like this. Inquisition witchhunters, demonhunters, xenoshunters.

At Games Workshop, we believe that how you behave does matter. We believe this so strongly that we have written it down in the Games Workshop Book. There is a section in the book where we talk about the values we expect all staff to demonstrate in their working lives. These values are Lawyers, Guns and Money. |

There was waaaaay back an articel in the WD about scenarios concerning the more than normal number Assassins vs. an Army I see if I can dig them out for you.
*Edit*
Couldn't find it but I think it was the Septmber or August Issue 1999 that was when the 3ed Eldar Codex came out.
There also was a little CODEX Assassins back in the days but I do not know if it included special missions.

There is a troll magazine that had an imperial assassin scenario. "assault on the temple" or some such.
It was a necron scenario if I am not mistaken. Pariahs searching for humans with the pariah gene. Culexus based.
Rules for neophyte assassins to bulk it out also.

There was a little mission in the back of the Codex Assassins. I think it was Vindicare vs. enemy army.

I'm guessing you'd want light transports, drop troops,
infiltrating elements and stuff like that.

The mission the Assassin Codex is sweet. You set up an Imperial City, and basically what you do is, you hide the Vindicare in a building. Your opponent has no idea where or which building. His goal is to flush you out by going from building to building, all the while being pinned to hell by the Vindicare.
I'll have to take a look at it when I get home, I think there was an Eversor mission to, where he basically just does what he does bests. Guts stuff.
