My neighbor has sparked my interest in 40K. I am trying to fugure out what race I want to use. I have came up with a two ideas. I think i like the Necrons or the Tau. From what I have researched they are both strictly a ranged attack races. But i also heard that they are great for beginners to start out with to learn. I would like some advise whether I am heading in the right direction or am I way off base. Do I go with one of these two races or do I go with another? Any constructive advise would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Necrons and Tau i have heard to have a rather sharp learning curve. Necrons are certainly forgiving because of their ability to repair, but they pay for it in their points.

But in all honesty, go with what you think looks the coolest. That's ultimately gonna be the most fun in the long run

Thank you for your reply. I was told not to decide on what I thought looked kewl with this wargame. Cause if you go off looks you may be sacrificing playability. But I am all about learning, and honestly I think the Necrons look cool anyway. Thanks again.

All the armies are playable, it just depends on the style of play. Haha, if the Necrons look cool, and you like how they play, what's to lose? Go for it, and welcome to the hobby!
