I think he may be legit in his question. Could be a long-time lurker who wanted advice, but had to register to ask.

To answer the initial question, No, I have not had any experience with that vendor. Local game shop for the win!

Games-Workshop has mandated that their retailers cannot sell online, and buy from them, we simply don't buy from them. We buy from their independent distributors. That is how we get the product to you at such a low price.

Well, I can't hazard a guess about how well they will fullfill your order, but I will say two things about them.

1.) They are putting out erroneous statements right from the start. GW doesn't stop a retailer from selling online. They do forbid you using a shopping cart with their images. Warstore and many other online sellers buy from GW direct.

As to be buying from an independent distributor, that would cut their wholesale discount from 45% (direct from GW) to 35% (independent distributor). I'm not quite sure how them making less money makes it possible to discount more.

2.) They aren't too smart about a few things. Using the shopping cart with GW images means they get GW on them with a cease and desist. And then look at their terms and agreements. They claim that the entire site, including images, are copyright by them. Putting up GW images and pictures, and then claiming to copyright them is about the quickest way to get a lawyer thrown at you.

I'd think that after looking at the above, you might want to either support your local store, or go with someone like Neal at the Warstore that has a proven record.

Yep I agree, with one caveat: Unless its a new release try finding it on ebay first. You can get all kinds of nice deals there.

Yeah, the amount of discount isn't incredibly reliable here and varies greatly from item to item (and sometimes even with the same item), but the Discount Comics NOW Comics Bookstore ebay store has had some pretty phenomenal deals at times. (http://stores.ebay.com/Discount-Comics-NOW-Comic-Bookstore) Other times, they don't have anything more special than anywhere else on the web.

This place claims to be a 'brick and mortar' store. I asked a friend that lives within a couple of miles of their address and he says there is no gaming store in that area. Order with caution.

The Warstore is fantastic. They've been offering great service for nearly 10 years now.

I am curious in Discount Warhammer though. The site is all kinds of shady.

Company: Discount Warhammer
Address: P.O. Box 11051
Olympia, Washington 98508
US
Telephone: 1-(435)-258-6088
Email: info@discountwarhammer.com

A couple of things:

1) Are they even allowed to have "Warhammer" in their company name?

2) Why the PO box if its a brick and mortar store?

3) How have GW's lawyers not shut them down for having shopping carts & GW images yet?

Not to mention the fact that 435 isn't an Olympia, WA area code.

They mention a Rob on the website, I wonder if it's Robert Eveland of former thedropzone online store. Note I don't know that it is, but if it is Robert Eveland, he had a lot of unhappy customers on Dakkadakka about a year or two ago.

Let us not forget bartertown as well. Also, I wouldn't be surprised with warseer, bolter & chainsword, etc...

Site seems a bit fishy.

Go with the Warstore. I myself have only ever had one minor issue, which was over about $3, so I never brought it up to them. They have good customer service; which over the internet is huge.

I was wondering the same thing, Tazok.

435 is a Utah area code.

Rob was based in Fort Mills, South Carolina IIRC.

Either this is a mistake in area code, or the PO box is a waystation address that ships the mail back to salt lake city. Or maybe even back to...south carolina?

Its easy to get a cellphone that is from another state. My cellphone is still a Montana area code and I am living in Minneapolis...

Regardless, this appears spurious. I would avoid. Especially if it does have anything to do with Rob Eveland.

Edit:
Rob used two different area codes for his two different phones he ripped people off with.
704 (which is North Carolina) and 803 (which is South Carolina)

This is starting to sound as fishy as the dropzone online did.

Hrm... I dunno. While a little suspect--especially because they were just established this year--I might be tempted to give them a chance. Paypal protections are solid for customers (not always for sellers) as long as the purchase is below $2000. Then again, I don't know if the extra 5% discount is worth the risk & hassle should something go wrong.

I suppose it's the same risk as buying from someone on ebay, though. At least there you can see feedback

Caveat Emptor, right?

Yeah, tell that to the money I lost from that slimy, worthless, bottom-feeding, lying, thieving, should-be-curbstomped-by-a-giraffe Robert Eveland. I opened up a Paypal dispute and all I got for my troubles is a notification on my Paypal account that I have an open dispute. I can't even close it out.

So, yes, caveat emptor indeed.

Paypal doesnt protect you from squat.

I have been burned twice by that dispute process and I have no faith in it whatsoever. Once as a buyer and once as a seller.

To protect myself as a seller from buyers who recieve product and then make a "chargeback" I have to have two bank accounts. One for collecting the funds, and a second that is not connected to paypal in anyway so I can transfer the funds to that account and be actually protected from paypal.

And you know what? Bad sellers do the same thing. Paypal cant get from a bad seller if it doesnt have any money to collect. So as a buyer you would be screwed.

So don't kid yourself with paypal buyer (or seller) protection. That is a fantasy.

I got results out of dispute, but I had Warseer to back me up, and I didnt accept eBays fob offs. Also it never went to Paypal because I never paid.

Once money has been transfered you can kiss goodbye to it if something goes wrong. ebay and Paypal take advantage of the fact that most traders are honest, but offers little real comeback if they are not.

To go back to the main topic, the best place to get stuff is RIGHT HERE. Wait long enough and someone will have an army you want buying. Some of the deals I have got here have been very good, and I have never had my fingers burned.

If the seller has a good post count they are most likely unwilling to jeapordise it by tricking you. Frankly a ruined rep at Dakka would curb dishonest practices for a regular Dakkaite more than eBays "security". As you dont have any trade history hare and are unknown, expect to be asked to send first.
