The God Emperor Needs You!

To celebrate the relaunch of the Dark Heresy corebook under the flag of Fantasy Flight Games (FFG), Dark Reign is running a Dark Heresy adventure contest. The winning author will receive a copy of FFG's reprint of the Dark Heresy corebook, and runners up will be incorporated into the forthcoming Dark Reign Adventure Anthology.

Contest Rules
The deadline for the contest is September 1st, 2008. All submissions must be received by Donato, administrator of Dark Reign, by that time to be given proper consideration. Late submissions will not be considered.

The following rules also apply:
* One entry per individual.
* All entries must be submitted in English. The writing doesn't need to be perfect, but should at least be the equivalent of High School-level competency.
* Submitted adventures must use the Dark Heresy game system. Any submissions with other game systems will not be considered.
* Adventures can be focused on the Inquisition or other aspect of the Warhammer 40,000 universe, but all submissions must be original.
* A submitted entry should be between 5,000-7,000 words (+/- 10%). All adventures should be submitted in .doc (Word), .txt (text file), or .odt (Open Office Writer) file formats. Do not submit .pdf, Quark, .idd, or whatever, files.
* Any images or maps that accompany your adventure must be original artwork, or the author must be able to prove that they have acquired the legal permission of the artist to use the work. Art is, however, not required and will not inherently improve the odds of winning the contest.
* All submissions should be emailed to agent.donald@gmail.com by September 1st. Emails should be clearly labeled "Dark Reign Adventure Contest - [Author, Title of Adventure]".

The competition will be judged by Monday September 8th and the winner announced on Dark Reign and the Warhammer 40,000 RPG board of the FFG message boards. The winner will be contacted by email and should be ready to present their real name and a postal address to ensure that their prize reaches them safely. (This information will not be shared.) Runners up will also be contacted to let them know that their adventure will be included in the Dark Reign Adventure Anthology.

Dark Reign reserves the right to change these rules as often as we like, with no warning. You can count on the fact that we probably will. Come to think of it, maybe we have already. It's best not to dwell on these things.

Have any of the winners been announced? I'd love to see some more adventures. I find the best way to understand a system is to see how others are playing it, and reading adventuers can be a great way to do that. One of the great features of the old Black Industries website was all the free downloads.
