Subject: Painting flags? (no I do not mean banners)

I planning on making and IG apocalypse army after I completely finish painting my Tau but my concept for the IG army is based on the Canadian military. No I am not a Canadian nor am I much of a fan of their military but the fact that a majority of their current standing army is on horse back makes me want to model an IG army after them.
I was thinking doing an artic tundra camo scheme for the general concept so grey, blue, brown, and white for the primary colors but I wanted to paint the Canadian flag on the troops shoulders and large flags on the sides of the LR's and Baneblade.
I was curious if any one here has done a free hand flag before and hopefully has some pics so I can get an idea how to do it and practice with it before I try it fail and have to strip the models over and over. I also want to have the flag have the effect as blowing in the wind not just a typical 2d side view like most flag decals.
Thanks a ton for any advice you guys may have.

People like Canadians, so go forth. There are other red and white flags best avoided.

Ya I have no problem with Canadians which worked out pretty well since I used to live in MI. I just thought their flag and kind of over all theme is really appropreate for an artic themed army, so I decided to run with it.
But seriously no one has done free handed flags on their tanks??? I could really use some pics to at least work from.

the only flag that i have seen painted free-hand (not by me, by one of my gaming buddies) is the NAZI flag, and i think that it is a bit against forum rules to post said flag (as it may offend some people). altho it was painted beautifully.
peace

Suffused with the dying memories of Sanguinus, the warriors of the Death Company seek only one thing: death in battle fighting against the enemies of the Emperor. |
