It's a radio interview with Dr Edgar Mitchell who's a fella that walked on the moon back in the day, "coming forward" and talking about X-filey kinda alien conspiracy stuff. Is he for real, or does he have space dementia like steve buschemi in armageddon?

He's an obvious fraud. We never walked on the moon, it was really a sound stage in Arizona. So, you can't believe anything the guy says. You might hear it was a sound stage in New Mexico, but that's just a lie to cover up the real location.

I believe it. Go do a search on Wikipedia for UFO sightings. There's just too much unexplained. There's a link somewhere that I found once that had numerous galleries of UFO pictures from the different years, including 2008. Lets face it, we're cave-men compared to some things out there...

Two different rumours here.

1. Where the moon landings faked.

2. Have astronauts had alien encounters.

Pity the thread is already full of jokers, it would be nice to hear some sensible opinions on those two subjects.

1. No. The overwhelming evidence is that the moon landings are real. The conspiracy theory, like all good conspiracies, is bult around tiny pieces of cherry-picked 'evidence' which is actually things that look 'a bit wierd' but can be explained when studied properly.

2. No. Even if there are other sentient beings in the universe (which I believe to be a virtual statistical certainty) the likelyhood of those beings being in contact with humans is too tiny to even compute, and again, there is absoloutley no evidence. Annecdotal evidence is not evidence, especially from people who have been to space and are likely to suffer the after effects of such a massively emotionaly harrowing experience.

Shame, it'd be nice, but I think it's wishful thinking.

As one of the jokers in this thread, let me say:

1. I think the moon landings were real.
2. I don't think there are aliens/UFOs visiting earth. I think there's weird things that we can't easily explain. But, if you assume the presence of aliens explains all the unknowns, I think there's too many knowns that it contradicts. I think there is sentient life out there, but that it isn't visiting earth. In the middle ages, the unknown was goblins and witches, now it's aliens.

I believe the moon landings were real. Heck, didn't we leave an american flag there? And a good telescope can actually see it still planted there? I read that somewhere..

I actually do believe there are aliens watching us. Not hovering over our planet 24/7 or hiding their attack fleet behind the moon where we can't see it, but I'm sure there have been visitors especially in the past and I'm sure even today. There's tons of historical drawings showing UFOs, just in their own art form of the day. There was a really interesting history channel show once all about it, showing tons of old paintings, carvings, etc, from all over the world and all different time periods. I don't believe though that little gray men are flying around giving farmers anal probes. But I do believe that roswell was real, though blown way out of proportion by too many crazy people to ever know what the real facts truly are.
