Oklahoma City, Ok.

hello,

like most people, i'm re-evaluating my IG army's structure and design.

i'm fitting my command squads with 3 meltas, flamers or plasmaguns.

does anyone else do it that way, or does everyone use 4?

my main reason was originaly monetary. but since i'm adding

Sharpshooter to some squads, it also helps points wise.

thoughts?

thanks.

Statistically, a fourth weapon is better than Sharpshooters (which you can't use with Plasma Guns anyway). If money is an issue, try doing some conversions, plastic Cadians are relatively easy to convert.

I generally keep my flamer squads down to 2, but always use 4 Plasmas/ Meltas.

My current setup is meltas in vet squads, flammers in command squads and plasmas in line squads. Nothing in the hq. I haven't played enough games yet to say if it works well enough. The vets are getting regular tank kills . I even killed two in a squadron. However, they die right after.

Either four meltas or plasmas in platoon commands, meltas in Hardened vets. Don't bother with flamers or grenade launchers.

Flamers were awesome for counterattack in 4th, I can only see them working better in 5th since the enemy cannot consolidate into further combat. I used them to very good effect in command squads.

Also please read the rules very carefully on template weapons. In 5th, flamers are the new hotness. You might want 4 in a squad now.

Flamers go with JSOs in troop/HQ command squads, not hardened vets. But yeah, seeing a dozen or two flamers in a list is nothing unusual these days.

Don, that makes me a happy ork when you post stuff like that. My orks really do not like flamers. Keep preaching the "no flamers" gospel. I'll take 4 melta/plasma shots into my squad over 4 flamers anyday of the week and twice on sunday. (your hellhounds on the other hand....)

Oh, I didn't say no flamers. I just don't think they are useful in a deep striking command/special weapon squad. I am loving Hellhounds...............
