I have to say when I'm reading fantasy books, modelling, painting, surfing etc, I've found a few bands that really set the mood just right...

Sabaton are bloody excellent, Swedish (I think) metallers who base a lot of their songs on war so it's pretty relevant to most fo the wargames stuff...

I went to see a band live and these guys were supporting, I'd never heard of them before that, I missed the beginning of the main act's set as I was too busy out the back buying the sabaton cd!!!

A not very well known German band called Eisbrecher put this lovely little tune together:

DragonForce are a seriously good British power metal band who've been pumping out mind bending riffs for a while now, they're mega-famous now thanks to Guitar Hero but they were pretty good to begin with They're also suitably power metalish to fit in with the wargame scene quite well. They've literally just this week brought out a new album to, it's ace

Hammerfall are pretty much the epitome of wargames and fantasy book reading listening material before you get all silly with Edguy and Helloween... think Dragonforce knocked down a gear, and Iron Maiden without the political overtones and the sheer grandiose scale (which, of course, has it's place!!!)

Oh, and of course there's the truly phenomenal Nightwish, just as good now as they were before, just different!!!

That's all for now before I get flamed for posting way too many youtube clips, but that's just a taste of the stuff I like to listen to, is everyone here a metalhead or can you listen to other kinds of music as well?

Always a great way to find a new band. I've been listening to Sabaton for a couple years now and I've been rather pleased with them.

Hammerfall is a fun one. You might also want to look into "Rhaposidy" or maybe they call themselves "Rhaposidy of Fire" these days. I vaguly remember something about the slight name change. Regardless, some serious fantasy based power metal. It gets really corny sometimes but in a funny rather than anoying way.

Oh, and of course there's the truly phenomenal Nightwish, just as good now as they were before, just different!!!

My favorite band. Got tickets to the concert they are doing in LA on Sept 13. It will be my 4th time seeing them and the 3rd time seeing them since they got their new singer (I liked the old one better, but what can ya do?). Fortunatly for everyone, the composing end of the band is the keyboardist and he's not going anywhere.
