Alright, dunno wether if this is the right place ...

So, 'ere we go:

I really like the Ork Kommando boxed set. I love the minis.
Now that I'm finally starting Orks I just wanted to ask if anyone has any experience with them; painting- and/or playing-wise.

Are they worth the buy ? I don't play any Cities of Death, so non-CoD-playing-experience would be appreciated

Thanks in advance,
Capt. E.

Depends on the list and who you are fighting; Anything with a big nasty tank that you don't wanna have to deal with (Whirlwind, Rail Head, etc.) would be greatly benefited by a nob kommando sneaking up on it and bashing it good. Or even using snikrot and slapping rokkits into the unit (or just maxing it out if its a more squishy target, like broadsides).

Similarly, some lists compliment kommandos very well. SAG+Loota line is benefited greatly from kommandos providing other targets. Overall they are very good units, but not for every list (they wouldn't really shine in a dreadbash or a KoS, unless you expect to see the big nasties.

If you are going to use kommandos, I think you really should use Snikrot. His ability to let you choose what table edge you are going to arrive from is amazing. I use him in a squad of 15 kommandos with 2 burnas and I often find his unit to be my MVP.

The kommando minis are nice, but honestly you can make kommandos out of the basic boyz box and a few extra bitz. You have to convert a model to be Snikrot as there is no model for him currently. I used some IG backpacks and some other bitz from other model lines to kit them out and then added stikkbombz from the boyz boxes. I also put siliencers on their sluggas - little bits of plasti-rod - no game effect but they look extra sneaky...

And yes, if you only take one kommando mob, I'd definitely take Snikrot with him. I haven't had a single game that he didn't have an influnce on - even if only pushing the opposing players fire line off his board edge and closer to the center of the table (where the rest of my orks can get to them faster).

taking a nob with a pk/bp is another option, but then if they are in reserve you may not get them on the side you want or worst case scenario they come in on your own board edge and are essentially worthless. You'd probably be better off infilitrating them to begin with.

kommandos with weird boyz are so good, i was getting 1st turn wins. 3 x 15 man units ( 1nob with pk,bp,ea, 2 boyz with burns. 2 weird boyz (warpheads work better).
infilitrat all the kommandos 13". 1 weird boyz rolls a 6 and you win the game

all ur base are belong to da

all the armies i used to beat b4 6ed

Well, that is definitely an idea I had not considered before. It is a high risk tactic but I kinda like it. I will have to try it.

With the lack of LOS blocking terrain though, how are you finding a place(s) for 3 squads of 15 Orks to hide that is out of sight of your opponent?

I have played them alot and found that against most armies, snikrot and 14 strong boyz plus two burnas really carves up the opposition and there axillery firing platforms

kammandos can be invalueble
if you give them tankbusta bombz or somthing of the like, they can become perfect tank hunters. make sure you infeltrate somewhere good and safe so the bad guyz cant take out to many if you have to wiat to get in range

I play Blood Axes, so I love Kommandos. I never use 'em to Infiltrate, though. They'll just get shot to death in moments. I use 'em to Outflank, so a couple units come in from the sides, and ol' Snikrot comes flying out of their deployment zone!

Priceless! (Especially as I was facing Tau! So long, Broadsides!)

I like the idea of using snikrot to come in and take out some IG or Tau armor. I'm a little bit worried about the hitting power of the Kommando unit. Snikrot has S5 so he'll hit rear armor 10, let's say, with S6 on the charge and have 5 attacks. That glances on a 4 and penetrates on 5 or 6--not bad I guess. The other Kommandos will need a 6 to glance on the charge and won't be able to damage a vehicle unless they get a really lucky grenade roll in subsequent rounds.

I have never had Snikrot and his boyz fail to earn back their points against any opponent.
