Once upon a time I used to be a Dakka member, from around 2000 ish (as in the Year) and for a few years after, until dissapearing into the warp for a while.
I'm just amazed that I've miraculously managed to get my original identity too! Though without all the rank thingies and post count....

From trawling the members list, there are a few old names I know, some of whom will also remember me (Hi Chuck !).

A bit about me for any who care:
I've been into 40K from the start (Rogue Trader), with varying levels of involvement. I buy too much stuff, and do too little with it. I'm a model maker primarily, and have stacks of cool ideas that I never get around to doing anything about because I have a short attention span, too many other interests/distractions, a family, children etc etc. Any excuse for not getting around to doing something creative, and I have the mug, T-shirt and duvet cover to prove it!

If I were to ever actually get around to finishing all the stuff I've collected, I could conquer my own corner of the 40K universe, with the assortment of Marines, Chaos Marines, Eldar, Tyranids, Orks, Tau, Guard, Necrons, Sisters, Inquisition, Mechanicus etc etc.

So Hi to anyone that knows me, and hi to everyone else who doesn't !

Any questions, fire away...

BTW - how odd is it that Dakka has about 40 PAGES! of members who've never even posted once ?

Of all the things I've lost, It's my mind I miss the most.....

Welcome back wildrider!

Good to see another oldtimer reappear.
What are you working on currently?

Alot of those may be old members who were dragged accross from the old board, but had not been active for awhile.

Also as you live in Nottingham, Do you go out to open days at the GWHQ to see what is new, or have you been out of the loop completely all these years?

I'll never be out of the loop totally (until I'm pushing up daisies), and go to as many things as I can, but family stuff and working quite a few weekends means that often the big hand of fate goes and puts events on at the most inconvenient times - particularly this summer, where GW were pretty hopeless at announcing some of the more ad-hoc events in time to make alternative arrangements. So the last 12-18 months have been my most out of touch as far as events, but I've been hanging around the store more, and getting my info that way.

Last year was the first Games Day I've missed since 1988 ! All Because it fell on the date my wife had booked our Daughters 5th Birthday party !
This year, Games Day is 4 days before her Birthday, but I got my ticket first so the party had to get booked a different weekend!

My best GWHQ contacts are no longer there, so I don't know as much in advance as I used to, and so much gets leaked onto the net now, and I don't have as much time to trawl for it, I'm a bit behind on my rumour mongering.

But I still know a few people that I'll see at Games Day this year, who are usually good sources of information.....

As for current projects, loads are under way and making no progress. For some odd reason, I'm really into scenery at the moment, particularly buildings of all kinds (WH, Imperial, Necron...)

As for my Mechanicus - it's mainly the old limited edition models from way back (2 full sets) , but they had their paint stripped (because they were naff) and are still awaiting more paint (like the thousands of other models in my house....). The intention was to convert some Skitarii to go with them, but that's another project that's up there with the flying pigs...
