Can someone explain to me or show the math for the following:

what are the odds of rolling 1 5 or 6 or 2 5 or 6's on 2 twin linked dice

what are the odds when it goes up to 3,4,5 dice?

I'm trying to figure out the odds for deffkoptas

Thanks

Multiply your odds together, being that you have a one sixth chance at any.

Setup:
1. Define a "hit" as rolling a 5 or 6 on a d6
2. Define a "miss" as rolling a 1, 2, 3, or 4 on a d6
3. TL = twin linked.
4. All percentages rounded off to nearest integer

One TL Die
Odds of one hit = 20/36 = 55%
Odds of one miss = 100-55 = 45%

Two TL Dice
Odds of two hits = .55 * .55 = 30%
Odds of two misses = .45 * .45 = 20%
Odds of one hit = 100-30-20 = 50%

Three TL Dice
Odds of three hits = .55^3 = 17%
Odds of three misses = .45^3 = 9%
Odds of one hit = (.45*.45*.55)*3 = 33%
Odds of two hits = (.45*.55*.55)*3 = 40%
Odds of at least one hit = 100-9=91%
Odds of at least two hits = 40+17= 57%

Four TL Dice
Odds of four hits = .55^4 = 9%
Odds of four misses = .45^4 = 4%
Odds of one hit = (.55*.45^3)*4= 20%
Odds of two hits = (.55^2*.45^2)*6= 37%
Odds of three hits = (.55^3*.45)*4 = 30%
Odds of at least one hit = 100-4= 96%
Odds of at least two hits = 100-4-20 = 76%
Odds of at least three hits = 30 + 9 = 39%

I'm not going to five dice

groz thanks that answers my question quite succinctly

I may run 4 deffkoptas rather than 2 units of 2 now. seems much more reliable.

Thanks,

Huh? You're still throwing the same number of dice whether is 2 x 2 or one unit of 4. The two unit might even give you more flexibilty with respect to target selection and you'd need to take a casualty with each before you take a morale test, vs one casualty with the 4-copter unit.

fair enough, but if I'm using outflank I often only get 2 at a time to shoot at a single target.

and I've seen due to limitations in positioning, if I have both units together but one has to shoot past another it can confer a cover save.. which sucks
