I know that in the fluff once I read that the whole region of Ultramar had a very military, spartan-esque tone, and that a great number of the residents served time in one military faction or another. (something like the Cadians?) The question I have though, is how 'strict' is the military organization? Specifically to using nonstandard imperial technologies? The reason I ask, I'm in the process of building a mechanized imperial guard army, but I'm using some heavily converted walker looking chimeras (they look something like the big 4 leg walkers in Star Wars: Attack of the Clones). I came up with the model, and then thought to my self, "you know, that thing would look awesome in ultramarines blue" and from there I began to daydream more.
Of course, if it won't work so well for a PDF (or is it a regional military in Ultramar?) I'm sure I can come up with some other world that would have similar heraldry,

"Dah Duh!! Bum bum Bum bum Bum bum....."
