An idea I've gotten from 4chan - no, dont go..

Why dont we implement a dice rolling feature? E.g. Typing in :diceroll: would roll a dice that would come up with a random number. This would be fun for forum games, and possibly be useful for rules and tacticia.

It isnt needed, but it would be cool to have as part of the next batch of updates.

It was something I had considered. Warseer added one quite a while ago and I was watching how it effected them. Basically it had no real benefit except to add a massive pile of seemingly unrelated dice images to the bottom of large numbers of posts. Very few people actually used it for anything related to their comments. 4chan has more random discussion that benefits somewhat from the dice and post numbers, but I dont think it has much application here on dakka.
