I started playing d&d as soon as 4th came out with a group of my friends at the moment i have a 4th lvl human palidin, a 4th lvl eldrian wizard, and i would like to make a rouge now but on some of the rouges at will/encounter powers they say you need to have a melee weapon/light blade.
The dagger is classified as a light blade and it can be used as a light thrown so here is the question:

Can i throw the dagger at an enemy and still benifit from the at will power/encounter/daily that require a melee weapon?

As always thank you for any responses

This is silly! Buttons are not how one escapes dungeons! I would smash the button and rain beatings liberally down on the wizard for playing such a trick!

No. If the power has the “melee” keyword, it only works on a melee attack, not a ranged attack.

Just trying to help you out. You also might try ENWorld or RPG.net for D&D questions--there's a lot of people on those forums who play.

If the light weapon you throw is a magic one it comes back to you though.

4 days isn't threadnomancy. It's just plugging the life support back in.

As someone earlier said, rouge is makeup, rogue is a guy in a cloak doing nefarious things.

Concerning your question, no. If the power in question is geared for thrown weapons, it'll be fairly obvious. I can't think of any powers off-hand, but they would mention "thrown weapons".

"I went into a hobby-shop to play m'self a game,
The 'ouse Guru 'e up an' sez "The Guard is weak and lame!"
The Chaos gits around the shelves they laughed and snickered in my face,
I outs into the street again an' grabbed my figure-case."
Oh it's "Angels this" an' "Space-wolves that", and "Guardsmen, go away!";
But it's "Thank you for the ordnance" when the Guard begins to play,
O it's "LOOK AT ALL THE ORDNANCE!" when the Guard begins to play.."
