I'm James and got into 40k about a month ago, and by using a few armies owned by a friend, the Tyranids seemed to sit well with me, first off I like how they role. A good starting group, plus it helps with the pocket too. I currently own:

1 Hive Tyrant(and a buddy added wings on it for me)
1 Carnifex
about 20 gaunts (a mix between both)
I am currently just trying to get as many Gaunts as possible plus Genestealers. I have a few bids on Ebay for more Gaunts so Please don't bid. Thanks! >

Welcome to dakka! Do you think you'll get in to the painting side of things too, or just gaming?

I plan on getting into painting, but currently my confidence in myself in that department is low. I've been practicing with the Gaunts because I don't want to screw up the Hive Tyrant and Carnifex, but I hear this forum is a great place to learn.

if you would like to start painting i would say pick out 3 colours and have a crack at it. i was a very crapy painter when i started but as days went by i just started to TRY harder and not worry about messing up just use a little paint at a time.

This forum is a great place to learn. Just don't let anyone fool you! When you play against my 'all mortar heavy weapon platoon + 3 hellhound + 3 basilisk' guard army some of these guys will try to tell you that I'm tailor making my army just to go against you, but that's the most common IG configuration out there.

You are so hooked on the crack! Don't worry. When i see you Friday I'll teach you how to have your checks directly deposited into GW's accounts like me. It eliminates so much hassle.

im selling my nids, i have 16 gaunts and around 40 stealers.
if you want them im more than happy to sell them for £10 or so to get another persons army up and running .
