There has been much talk of the ideal army composition for round 1 of the 'Ard Boyz tournament. There are two keys to success in round 1. The first is to minimize the number of Kill Points in your army. The second key is to use the modified Dawn of War deployments in scenarios 2 and 3 to your advantage. I hope, dearly, that GW creates scenarios for Round 2 that give serious difficulties to armies that were tailor-made for Round 1.

You just have to keep in mind, players will start tweaking armies for the 2nd round once they see the missions. Not having a painting requirement makes this very, very easy. Also, there should, on average, be stiffer competition in the 2nd round as opposed to the first.

No earth shattering, thought provoking quote. I'm just someone who was introduced to 40K in the late 80's and it's become a lifelong hobby.

Since there is no restriction on changing your army between the Ard Boy and the semi finals, I can't see it mattering.

You cannot change lists:

General:
•Table size is standard 4’x6’
•Ardboyz doesn’t mean throw out the rulebook. You don’t use Apocalypse rules, and can’t use superheavies. You still need to use the FOC (and just 1 FOC!), and need to make a legal army.
•Game length is standard, as per the 5th edition rulebook. Roll at the end of turn 5 and 6 to end the game, as described in the rulebook on page 90.
•Ardboyz is an open list tournament. Meaning that you should bring 4 copies of your list, and hand one over to each opponent if he wants one. Your opponent and you are both allowed to review each others’ lists, and ask questions, both before and during the game.
•Only one army list may be used during the tournament. Players may not adjust lists between games.

Um, the semi-finals are a different tournament.

You can't change lists between games of the same tournament, but you can change lists between tournaments.

I'd like to see them try to enforce such a rule anyway.

You don't even have to bring the same army, much less the same list.

Yup. Same list for the whole day. Different lists (and even totally different armies) A-OK for the next round.

it all depends on the missions.....once they are out people will make their lists. Tbh its pointless to make a list until the new missions come out, because as we saw before the first round most people had to change their lists 3 days before the torny.

I already made my list

But I will tweak it as needed for the missions. I am hoping to see less of the 200 Ork armies and such, only because I like to get full 6 turns where possible.
