Played in the Legends Event today. They had special rules. Three lists, and no
characters could show up in more than one list. So each warcaster was different,
and each solo character and each character unit was in different lists.
Also, a successful defender applied attrition to his units and used the same
list.
It was nice. Auto-includes are less of a factor if a player can't include Vilmon
in three lists.
vs. eLylyth
My first list was a variation of my Reznik 500 points list. He got shot down
from some crazy CRA of the Archers, and even if he didn't, a Feralgeist was
going to eat him with one of those reincarnated Carnivean that turn.
Otherwise I would have managed a win.
vs a defending Kruegar with eKreoss
Crazy list with 4 woldwardens. However, he had pretty bad rolls and Gravus
kept everyone up and running nicely. Managed to capture a single flag, and
eKreoss got to the third passage of the book. On eKreoss's feat turn, the
army massacred Kruegar with auto hitting melee attacks.
vs an attacking eCaine
Since I won last game, I started with my army fresh (I was a successful
attacker, so the attrition rules didn't apply yet). The list had Aiyana and
Holt, a full unit of Longgunners firing from behind a unit of shieldwalled and
kneeling Precursor Knights. He tried to keep things interesting with his own
Storm Lances cavalry. When the Precursor Knights finally started to engage
me, I decided to read the third passage of the Covenant and hope that I
could eliminate many models with eKreoss's feat, Strength of Arms. In
that turn I managed to kill about 10 models, so eKreoss only took 5
damage. However, now my models were getting a free melee attack at
the end of my turn. At the end of the game, I only had eKreoss and a lone
Idrian Skirmisher. I won charging eCaine, but only barely. two of my
boosted and bought attacks failed to hit.
defending vs. eLylyth (a different player)
My list was whittled down due to the last game. The Devout had
damage filled in at the start of the game, and every unit except my
Idrians started with two fewer models. That meant two choir, three
choir, 4 knights exemplar, 4 knights exemplar, 4 knights exemplar
errant, 3 exemplar vengers. Drew tried to pressure me with his fast
double seraph double strider unit army, but since I saw the shooty
that was eLylyth, I deployed 4" or so inside my deployment zone, and
placed all my advanced deploy on the hill inside my deployment zone
to raise their DEF. Drew managed to Seraph spam Gravus to death,
and he shot up a bunch of my remaining units. I stalled his forward
striders with some knights. When he ran eLylyth up the table, he was a
bit too close. eKreoss used Strength of Arms (his feat), charged a
Strider, and casted Cleansing Fire on eLylyth. He was within 5", and
he managed a critical hit. The AOE took out a crucial blocking Strider.
The Covenant read the third passage and three Knights Exemplar
charged eLylyth. They auto-hit, gained an additional hit, and won the
game.
Fun event.
