Mech lists offer up lots of kill points. Especially if you run cheep mech spam.

See pics of my Orks, Tau, Emperor's Children, Necrons, Space Wolves, and Dark Eldar here:

Which mech Eldar have a pretty hard time doing - what with each Serpent coming in at 100+ points.

The basic problem with mech eldar is that they end up spending a lot of points on the mech part of the army. In a 1750 list, you are likely to have spent 500-600ish points on wave serpents (if not more). These are non-scoring (although contesting) vehicles that only pack minimal fire power (although they are one of the better bright lance platforms). After you are done with the serpents, it takes a large chunk out of what you have to spend on real units. Another draw back is that in a full mech list, you lose access to some of the more powerful / useful units in the codex such as pathfinders, dark reapers, war walkers, and troop units of wraithguard.

Threads should be like skirts: long enough to cover what's important but short enough to keep it interesting.

rcm2216, you keep asking basically the same question about mech Eldar, so I'm guessing you haven't gotten the answer you want yet. I'm also guessing that you want a silver bullet to take down your buddy's army. Fortunately for your buddy, the foil to Mech Eldar is not a particular unit choice (well, other than autocannons), but learning to shatter the Eldar ability to converge great force in one area. You can either have too much for them to punch through (ork hordes) or be mobile yourself.

Shake and move on, then neutralize the troops. Have countercharge units that can reach all of your concentrations. To get much more specific than that, you're going to need to post your list and your opponent's list.

And I do hope that your opponent knows you're using Dakka as a learning tool, and that he has access to the same. It's much more fun to play with the same resources on both sides.

Lastly, man do I feel that mech wallet-pinch. Especially when you're using Forgeworld Serpents... Old salts on here all know this, but magnetizing saves you _tons_ of cash and time. Prisms into Falcons, weapon swaps, custom vehicles when you need them (Firestorm!) etc. Even if you're sure that you only want one weapon option because of the rules, you never know what an edition change might bring (*grumble*defensive weapons*grumble*).

Infinity: Way, way better than 40K and more affordable to boot!
