Right I started this project wayyyyyyyyy back in march believe it or not and finally I'm nearly done.

This is what I started out with and my to-do list:

Here's some pics of my completed Librarian and Chaplin. Might add a little more detail on either yet, though both are too table top standard. The other pics are of the Techmarine and Veterans, the Veterans are light conversions, but I think the Veterans need some extra touches. I might just bite the bullet and buy a pack of S.M Veterans as these ones are a bit rough.

Veterans & Techmarine

Some pics of the Tyranid Hunters. Two are the full metal models, the other five are conversions using spare Tyranid parts.

The pics below are models which need painting. The pics are of Marneus Calgar and Honour Guard, 1 x 5 man Marine squad and 1 x 5 man Scout squad armed with shotguns.

The pics below are all of the ones which need painting to Ultramarines. The blood red paint job looks ok in the pics, apart from the gloss varnish. However in the flesh you can see the black through them.

This is what I had been working on lately, minus the new wash which I've been using

Sorry the pics aren't very good. Got a pic of what I've done so far and a few of some others.

The sgt's of each squad have their left shoulder paint white with gold trim. Vet sgt is the same, except has white trim.

I'm going to highlight and wash them tonight.

Comments and suggestions welcome.

Here's the latest pics I took last night. Only taken from march until sept to do 1,500 points - mind you, I have got 5 armies to be fair

Ok nearly finished! ;D - Just one squad left to do and 3 bikers, though going to get things properly sorted when I get my hands on the new codex.

Looking back at the images I have a few touch ups to do. Also I've tried a new painting method on the latest ones, I wash them and then highlight instead of highlight then wash.

One squad with rocket launcher, plasma gun won't be in this squad when done.

Captain with 9 marines, plasma cannon will be moved to another squad. The razorback I use as rhino btw.

Vindicator supported by devastor squad.

Vindicator and Predator

Assault squad, which will soon have another three members

Terminators - can you spot the one from the WD mag?

Chaplin

Ok I've done a squad last week and then painted the remaining 5 marines which I had changed and made for the game I had on sunday after finally going through the new marine codex and getting a list sorted. I also re-painting the tyranids hunters and going to use them as normal marines.

At this point I though my project as nearly done, just a box of 10 marines to finish off the assault squad and command squad. However my make shift command squad got battered in close combat (to be fair was a tooled up hive tyrant), but I just wish I had more. So I've dropped the 125 pt command squad and 40 pt razorback and replaced with a 10 man assault squad, who have dropped their packs and got a drop pod. Captain Sicarius will go with one squad of the assault teams.

Now I had that sorted, and require two drop pods. Though tactically thinking on the first turn only one drop pod would land, and I needed two really. Plus I have a close range fire support unit armed with a meltagun and plasma pistol who need to be in range. So I have dropped the plasma pistol and power fist from the sergeant of the first assault squad, which give points for another drop pod. So plan is drop two pods, Sicarius with an assault squad and then the short ranged melta/plasma squad for fire power support. Then the third pod will come if rolls are made.

So I need 3 x drop pods and a box of 10 marines. Another £72 to go and they're done! lol. Though I have sorted out the final 2,300 list, which adds an extra two bikers. But the 1,500 is prority for all armies in fact before making any bigger lists.

So enough yakking here is a pic of the squad I did last night, the plastic models still need stickering, washing and other details, which I'II do tonight.

Surrounded!

San Diego.

Looks pretty decent. I just have a couple comments that may help.

First, never use washes on large flat surfaces of tanks. It always turns out blotchy and tends to spoil the look. I also noticed quite a few brush strokes on the tanks. Have you thought about getting an air brush? With a little practice you can get some really nice results. Lastly on the the vehicles, the transition between the white and blue on the sides looks a bit hap hazard. Try using some model masking tape to create a straight line. Something like this http://www.plankonframe.com/page3.htm

Also try thinning out your paint, it looks a bit thick on some models and some detail is obscured.

Do you still use the computer keyboard? Looks like it took some black primer.

On future models consider removing mold line and drilling out bolter barrels.

ChaosDave - thanks for the tips on the tanks, they do look a little mish mash compared to other models.

Old man - lol yeah, good job I don't use it much. Its even worse now!

Other folks have mentioned drilling out the barrels, I'II most likely go over them and drill them out
