The new bane.
Why wouldn't everyone run big squads of termies with storm shields and thunder hammers?
2+/3+I with re rollalbe Thunder hammers for dirt cheap seems ridiculously powerful.
Not to mention the whole army will have Thunder hammers in every squad and tons of re rolling assault weapons in drop pods.
Plus the pods have teleport homers for your termies.
Am I the only one that thinks this is abusive?

It's not abusive. The squadas of terminators are going to suck up points fast. So the more points you spend on termies the less you have for scoring units. plus, deep striking assault termies take a huge dissatvantage having to sit there as a target for one turn. Sure they will be effective units, when used right, but I wouldn't go so far as to say "broken". While I am on the point, I am hearing the terms "broken" and "cheap" used alot for the new marines codex. Does anyone really think that all of a sudden marines are going to start dominating competition? I don't think so, they simply will have more variety in the marine list that we see fielded.

"Tons" is a bit of a stretch. You can field 30 guys at T4 that die on rolls of '1' for 1200 points. They have a lot of trouble against mech lists and you'll even lose a lot to horde lists due to I1.
Against many matchups, this list will be Dead 'Ard, but there's many others where they'll be on the weak side. A lot of it comes down to Terminators still being only T4, and still dying every time you roll a '1'. Many opponents will just kill you through attrition.

Plus you've got to buy the SC. Still, I'd have at least one squad of termies and put 'em in a redeemer...

Isn't that what the rerollable heavy flamer is for?

For a normal list, I personally like the idea of including just one unit of these beasts. They're a target that no army has a good answer to, aside from maybe Necrons with a C'Tan. They pack a pretty huge punch, especially as Salamanders, and therefore they can't very well be ignored once you Deep Strike them to a beacon. The enemy will have to dedicate resources to killing them at some point or surrender whatever part of the board they're on to you. Either way, you come out on top.

Note: Assault Terminators cannot take heavy flamers.

I gotta agree that while they are scary, that's only 30 models for that many points, and they can't score. Add in the fact that they deep strike, then stare at you from rapid fire range (or land outside RF range and have to spend another turn walking) it just seems like they are going to die the death of a thousand cuts. Most armies can put out an appalling amount of fire within 12", so unless assault terminators are in a landraider, it is a bit rough for them to live, even with a 3+ invulnerable.
Then again, I play Sisters, so I might be spoiled by having piles of bolters, meltas and flamers, which can go from AP5 to AP1 in a hurry.
Edit: Now, 30 CSM Terminators with combi- plasma or meltas? THAT scares the bejeebus out of me.

Gah, that's right. You have to take troops, though. Why not give them the flamers for crowd control?

If you have Vulkan in the list, there's no reason to take any other terminator unit. Even regular terminators w/ heavy flamer is questionable (205 vs 2 heavy flamers for 150 on an ironclad).
2+/3+I with re rollalbe Thunder hammers for dirt cheap seems ridiculously powerful.
Gotta get them stuck in, which is easier said then done. Still they are damn effective with the master craft (remember though, Master craft lets ya re-roll one miss per model, it is not whole sale re-rolls).
Not to mention the whole army will have Thunder hammers in every squad and tons of re rolling assault weapons in drop pods.
Only Vanguards, Assault marines and command squads can take thunder hammers. Thunder hammers are not options for tacticals, sternguard, scouts, etc. Since Vulkan doesn't get a command squad, you are severly limited to the number of t-hammers in the army. The twin linked flamery stuff is awesome though.
Plus the pods have teleport homers for your termies.
Yep. This is very nice.

Vulkan will be very popular. His rules alone should sell tons of drop pods for GW. Abusive though? I can tell you from experience the army lacks range and that can really bite ya in the ass late game. Time will tell if the list is up there with iron warriors and siren princes of yesteryear, I'd say no but then again I am biased.

tau crises suits can be bad news for assault termies. With plasma rifles and fusion blasters, a descent suit squad can toast an entire squad in one turn. ( Farsight and his body guard wasted a 8 man termie squad for me last week in one turn). But I got him back by making him break and runing hin and his squad off the table.
