Hey guys I am getting back into playing 40k. I was interested in what if any none horde armies can use foot-slogging and be effective in 5th edition. I have been playing around with the idea of a very heavy infantry list for CSM .... might not be effective but the model count is 65.

Thanks for your input.

It was the weapon of a Daemon Prince. Not as clumsy or random as a Bloodfeeder; an elegant weapon for a more detailed age. For nearly a two editions, the Daemon Princes were the guardians of variety and flavour in the Chaos Codex. Before the dark times... before the Jervis. H.B.M.C.

Footslogging Nurgle is viable, but Berserkers have a hard time of it - they don't move particularly fast, they can't shoot well on the move, and they're not particularly tough. If you want to play this list, make the Zerker squads at least 16 strong. Here plasma pistols might be decent investments. But you need anti-armor, seriously. You'll never be able to destroy a lone Land Raider with these armies (with the exception of Kharn, who everyone will stay away from/shoot). I'd suggest either predators with lascannons, obliterators, or lots of havocs with melta weapons/lascannons.

wait wait wait wait... huh..?

tzeentchling is right, there is no way that you'll be able to get anyone in melee range of heavy armour. I'd load up on rhinos if I were you.

I would like to say if you can put everyone in a transport than you will be fine, but against armies like tua or eldar that can blow you up from afar and then use there powers and special troops to smash you i thuink you will have a hard time, you may want some anti-tank in there

All I would need to buy is a rhino and a landraider for this list.

its a reasonable list I think. Still not much in antitank, but I can imagine a lot of lists that can be taken out with a list like this.

For a fun list with a chance of winning it is reasonable, although footslogging it is not...

I would go with generic chaos marines with meltas and plasmas thrown in as short-range antitank. Led by a nice DP with wings...

They have a lot of powerarmour wounds and the potential to teir up tanks. Basically all you can want...

Going khornate then the best bet is the list you have given...

The new list is great i think, real potential, with the spare points you could go a havok launcher or 2 on the rhino?
Dont remember what the gun profile is sorry, but i really like the new list

The other thought is Land raiders. In 5th, land raiders are ridiculously tough, plus you can hide a running foot slogging unit behind it.

Well, generally, footslogging (across the board) is a slow way to die. For Necrons or Plague Marines footslogging is not a drawback but for normal Marines it is.

What do you think about large blocks of Thousand sons backed up with deamons and obliterators?

I think there's some potential in the Shrike special rules with marines. Having all your units fleet is pretty cool. I'm not sure it's high end tourney viable (and I haven't read the new 'dex cover to cover) but it's got potential.

Eldar can do it in a number of ways.

The first is the ghost world army. 2 squads of 10 wraithguard with conceal warlocks. Then either take 2 farseers or eldrad to give them both fortune. Back them up with a squad of harlequins and as many wraithlords as you can fit in for whatever point value you are playing at. Rock hard, low model count, and viable.

The other way for eldar to do it is with a shooty army. Take a couple squads of guardians with embolden warlocks to shore up forward positions. Then back them up with dark reapers, pathfinders, war walkers and the like in your back field. It also helps to have at least one skimmer tank (flacon, fire prism, or what not) around to contest back field objectives, but you can live without it...you just have to play for the tie in 2 objective missions.
