Hey, I was just gonna get some general thoughts on Forgeworld this would be my first order, I could not find any exchange values on the site. Its actually kind of sparce.

If I lose it is because I had bad luck, if you win it is because you cheated.

They don't post exchange rates on there.
If you're looking for an exchange rate, try www.xe.com ... or, you can just assume a 2:1 dollars to pounds ratio, then be happy when it turns out less.

Also, pay attention to their notice about ship times. It IS an understatement.

I recently made an order from them. It took them a month just to charge my credit card.

Which is odd because normally they charge it right away.

I am certain it will be another month before I even see the stuff....minimum.

Not to mention the quality of their casts. Make sure you stock up on greenstuff to fill gaps and otherwise make good on the product they ship to you.

I actually just placed my first FW order as well... I hope the wait isn't as bad as you guys are making it out to be... most of what I got was Rhino doors and symbols, so I'm hoping the casts are good, as these are smaller items...

FW stuff can be good... but they are a small group and can become easily overwhealmed by orders.

I placed a relatively small order with Forgeworld and because of comments I had read was prepared for a long wait. So when I got my order 6 weeks later with only one cracked piece I was happy.

Or if it's a problem/miscast/warped piece of a whole kit, you might get lucky and get another kit, they take awhile, but they're worth it both for the end customer service and the pieces themselves.

Slow, disrespectful, generally incompetent people making overpriced models with low-quality resin, in my experience. But on the off chance they actually get it right and send you the right thing you ordered in decent shape and in under 2 months, you're getting a nice model.

I placed an order at just over 500 pounds.. it shipped 4 hours later arriving in alaska 4 days later. My last 3 orders in the past 4 months have all been extremely timely and the casts have been fine.. a little warm water needed on a few bits but no serious bubbles etc.

the exchange rate is determined by your credit card company. call them and they will tell you what international currency charge is (mine is 1%) and the rate as well.

enjoy your order

also i had UPS tracking the order the entire time. the louisville customs is where it sat the longest period of time at 14 hours. but that is to be expected.

Last time I ordered their website warned of waits of a couple of weeks for some more popular items. My order trickled in over about a month - some stuff arrived very quickly, and then I had to wait...a couple of weeks for the rest.

In my experience FW had always been good about shipping and responsive (after some pestering) to e-mail.

Years ago I ordered some stuff. The wait was long, but they do warn you. If you're in a hurry, forget it! My package got delayed in customs for a week or some because they had marked "tank parts" on the box or something similar and their resin tends to show up as a plastique like substance on certain scans.

That said, I got lucky. A lot of guys order through my FLGS and I've seen their orders when they come in. The owner basically does the QC check and well, a good bit gets sent back. If you aren't experienced at being able to repair miscast resin, I hope you know someone who is. And I don't mean just filling in holes, I mean de-warping heavily twisted pieces. If you look around the internet and see the pics of people assembling their FW stuff you'll see the greenstuff work they need to do. It's beautiful stuff when it's cast right...

if you're not patient, you might rethink it.
on the plus side, i recently received an order that had several
miscast pieces. they sent an extra piece (L side of a cyclops)
with the miscast pieces that i had called about and they shipped
it 2 day at no charge. i was shocked. happy, but shocked.

It is... unless it's an item they HAPPEN to already have in stock.

You said a mouthful there.

Do me a favor? When you get your doors, hold them up against the plastic doors that some with the Rhino kit and tell us how well they match up in size.

My FW experience has varied from awesome to the absolute worste.

Do not bother placing e-mails. The only responce you'll get is the monthly "sorry it's taking so long/ call us instead" that everyone else gets.

My advice to anyone, especially US residents, call them and find out what's in stock. Out of stock items are what take so long to ship. In stock items ship quickly and get to the east coast in a reasonable amount of time.

As MM said, conversion rate is about x2 $$ + 15% shipping... highway robbery if you ask me. If you spring for the extra fast shipping, be aware that it has nothing to do with how fast they put it in the mail, only how long it takes to reach you once they do post it. In other words, upgraded shipping on an out of stock item will still take months to get to you and you'll be out the $$.

I wish I was, man. I wish I was.

Some blame shrinkage (insert juvenile pee-pee humor here) and some blame the mold, but the FW doors, rear hatch/door and front plates for Rhinos are all undersized.

Personally, I doubt that the resin is shrinking after it solidifies. I think the molds were probably made too small.
For the side doors, it isn't TOO bad but the front plate & rear hatch are annoying. The gaps are obvious. The only choices you have are to live with it or gap fill.

I have had this experience with:

Chaos land Raider doors set
Imperial Eagle doors/front plate AND hatch sets
Raptors doors/front plate set

I have experience with the Landraider doors and yes I can confirm they are a bit undersized. It was only by a very small amount though, but if you hold it up next to a Landraider with non-FW doors you can tell the gap is just a little bit wider around the FW doors. It would make it more difficult if you are trying to add working hinges, but other that it's not like it's disastrously bad mold or anything.
