I've been thinking of doing a CSM army of iron warriors lately and I was wondering who is their chapter master and if he wasn't leading a force who would be? A Demon Prince? How about a lord or sorc in Termy armor? Is it against the fluff of an IW army to be lead by a sorcerer of Tzeentch for example. Any feed back is appreciated.

Perturabo leads them.
IWs are broken into Great Companies. From Storm of Iron and Black Sun they appear to be several hundred warriors or more per Great Company. However they are also augmented by a full combined arms force of IG type troops (millions were noted), tanks, and defiler sized machines, artillery, demon engine artillery (from description sized akin to a superheavy potentially), and titans. I believe they also had sorcerors in Black Sun but could be wrong on that. I'd assume aircraft as well but I don't remember any mentioned. This was not a quick reaction force but gave me the visual image of a 40K version of the siege of Orleans painting.
The Great Companies noted were led by several types a general who obtained demonhood; a marine general (Warmaster was the title?); and one led by a dreadnought encased war leader (thats kind of cool). So your basic chaos lord, demon prince et al should do ya.

Grand Companies are led by a Warsmith
IW are the more "technical" faction of chaos. They love big guns and would use bionics more than other Legions (except IH maybe).
4th ed fluff had them using less demons and more machines / soldiers / Titans.
Sorcerors seem to be only 2nd class leaders, since IW favours their "Techmarines/MotF" => Warsmith.

iirc, Honshu, who was created from Imperial Fist geneseed, is at least leading a Great Company, but I thought he was leading the whole Legion at this point.
Pertaubo is still around, he's a daemon prince, but he doesn't leave the Eye of Terror.
Why is it that only Angron leaves the Eye of Terror? I know, it's because if defeated, they're banished to the warp for like 100 centuries, but I'm surprised more of them don't come out and raise the warp (so to speak).

Ok that sounds cool. So IW are more into the Tech parts. I was thinking of converting pieces of Fabius Bile, like his backpack and his gun with parts of a normal SM with some green stuff to give me a good looking Chaos Techmarine to lead my forces. IW also like a lot of vehicles so Rhinos tricked out with havoc launchers will be cool and IWs like Oblits too right? So a full few squads of oblits a ton of rhinos with havoc launchers a ton of CSM. Anything I'm missing besides running a lot of tanks? Maybe 3 Chaos Dreads with autocannons?

Yes, Storm of Iron specifically shows obliterators, the change of a techpriest into an obliterator, and use of technoviruses to: 1) make said obliterator; 2) convert a Nid ship (Hive ship?) to IW use as a Imperator class Titan transport.
I don't think Honshu was warsmtith for the legion. His two opponents in BlackSun were equal. I think these were each grand companies having a "tiff." If by tiff I mean titanic battle with gobs of troops, artillery, defilers in the hundreds, demon engines, sorceror towers, and titans duking it out...

I recall hearing that Iron Warriors are against chaos mutations in general. They prefer to cut off mutated parts and replace them with bionics.
An obliterator in your army would be good as IW are said to have invented them.
An Iron Warriors Lord/Warsmith are known to use servo-arms like techmarines. It's no longer in the rules but you could give your Lord a servo arm and claim it as a power weapon or demon weapon.
IW used to have basilisks too which made them stand out as an army. Maybe take a basilisk and claim it's a vindicator until the codex catches back up with the fluff or your opponent lets you use it as is.
IW are chaos undivided so should be able to work with any of the forces that only follow one god such as your Thousand Sons sorceror.

That's how I remember it too. I will be picking up Storm of Iron this week. The stuff about the technovirus looks very interesting; it reminds me of the Borg nano technology off Star Trek.

In Storm of Iron there are some Berzerker type guys. Theyre a cult devoted Khorne. So its not unheard of that IW´s move towards a certain deity.
At least not in a squad/ cult-like size. The Legion itself is Undivided.
