What do you think the best way to support close-combat Marine scouts? I have two squads (from my older, all-infiltrating army), and am trying to think of a way in which I can support them in my armies. Initially, my thought is to take Sicarius or Shrike, and bring another squad to Infiltrate along with them. Shrike would help in that they get fleet as well. My other thought is to take the Khan and have everyone, including the Scouts, outflank, but I don't like the unreliability.

Can you think of a different way to support them, or to work them into an army? I have no desire to convert all 20 of them into something else.

wait wait wait wait... huh..?

Shrike with regular termies. They provide covering fire, and the scouts charge. It's not perfect, but that's the best I can think of right now. Thanks to the lack of chapter traits.... I'll just stop before I continue that line of angry thinking.

Anyways, I've had the same question for a while now. But I think that scouts should be the support CC squad, not vice-versa.

Hmmm. Perhaps an equivalent or better question might be, who has used the new close combat scouts yet, and how have you used them?

I saw a game where they rushed from cover and took down a combat squad of Blood Ravens - A couple of shotguns and the rest with 2ccw got enough hits in, and wiped them out... then they tried to take on the terminators...

Support them by shelving them until 6th Ed. I think CC scouts really took it in the shorts this edition, with the WS/BS drop.

My WHFB armies were Bretonians and Tomb Kings.

Support them by having marines mix in their squads and call them black templars. Then put them in a land raider crusader.

I'll be fielding a squad on saturday, and I should have the bat rep up shortly thereafter. My thought is to just use them as squads that can tie up those that I don't want shooting/moving.

I really wish I could give them shotguns. Then they would be god while fighting in/around cover.

I'm thinking if I start building marines up again, I want a couple of 5 man scout squads in the new speeders. It would be a case less of my other stuff supporting them, as them moving forward to support dropping Sternguard.
