I have found me self uncontollably drawn towards these little [and big] bugs that kill everything, takes after my own heart now i have lashed out and go many second hand nids to give them a new lease on life and have bought the new codex from ebay, but have to wait for it to get here [hopefully in the next few days along with the nids] all under $100 AUD

Heres what i have bought so far:
2x Zoanthropes
3x Warriors
1x Red Terror
6x Gargoyel
27x Genestealers
3x Spore Mines
26x Hormagaunts
19x Termagants
1x 3rd Ed Lictor
1x 3rd Ed Reavener

Now Very few are broken so they are all basiclly useable. now what do i need to know or get next, i think a HQ would be best but dont know what to get.

Can anyone help me with tactics, modelling painting and so on?

definately a tyrant and a fex or 2. I have personally found that people tend to shoot up a tyrant more than the fexes so if you get the fexes long range weaponry he can do some damage. I normally give my rant wings and warp field which means he can survive a lot of firepower which WILL be coming his way...means the fexes survive to do more damage for longer. Hormagaunts are questionable. I would say put them in for a fast attack force only (stealers, raveners and the like). Otherwise they die waaaaaaaay too fast to actually do anything. Get some more warriors...u need more synapse for the little guys.

ok, i fairly new to nids myself but im hoping i bring something to the table

What do people think about a broodlord?

Guess he really needed that stretch he's always taking...

I've never painted them, but I've found from reading Dakka that you should always use inks (washes? I don't know the difference) on them. Looks vastly better, it seems.

It's better to simply be an idiot, as no one can call you on it here. -H.B.M.C.

Cap'n Gordino's instant grammar guide:
"This is TOO expensive." "I'm going TO the store, TO get some stuff."
"That is THEIR stuff." "THEY'RE crappy converters."
"I put it over THERE." "I'll go to the store THEN."
"He knows better THAN that." "This is NEW." "Most players KNEW that."

Don't ever use the ravener, and only use the lictor if you plan to keep a large ammount of your force in reserve. Both are effectively useless for their points in the game itself.

it all depends do you want a nidzilla force (a shooty or combat one) or do you want an endless horde, or a very fast force full of hormies and ravenors and flyrants etc

what you have is great as a starting point i think with it you could play a decent 1500pt horde using you warriors as HQs

a broodlord is only useful in a stealer shock list however his inability to fleet or (if memory serves) take scuttlers reduces thier ability to close in combat quickly and they will get shot up quite alot

with this balanced horde you could take lots of termies and spinegaunts backed up by shooty fexs, shooty warriors and a couple of tyrants (maybe on devourer armed one and a flyrant for example)

I really want a mobile and fast one, with lots of flyguants and winged warriors and winged tyrants, or maybe an endless swarm, any help?

I'm somewhat new to the nid army myself after taking in a friends neglected nid force, but after a few games I can definitely tell you which will help the most. As far as HQ choices go there are two good tyrant options. The Fying Dakka Tyrant (wings, two twin linked devourers) or the long range tyrant with gaurd (with a venom cannon, barbed strangler, or both with a tyrant gaurd).

The broodlord is decent as well, just give him feeder tendrils and a stealer retinue then the entire squad will get preferred enemy. Usually though its better to get two tyrants to fill your HQ slots.

i personally dont like the broodlord. As mentioned above he stops your stealers from assaulting into cc if they run. Thats a potential 6" lost. If you want a fast force then lots of hormies are the way to go with winged warriors and tyrant along with a few raveners. Be careful though, looking through the codex they (raveners) look to be expensive. About 50 points each if you give them a gun (they need it cos they cant assault the turn in which they deep strike).

lictors are good when supported by other units (especially stealers since they confer the feeder tendrils bonus if within 2 inches...thats some sick to hit rolls). I cant really comment on the other 2 as i have yet to buy some but I just dont like the fact that if they deep strike in they cant assault that turn. But dont take my word for it. U will probably get better advice from someone who has used them successfully.

Raveners are decent beasties. I'm running 2 squads of 2 in a friendly league, currently. In the era of 5th edition combat resolution and rending, they're a little rougher in CC than they used to be. Due to the new vehicle assault rules they're a bit better against tanks than they used to be. They're still bolter-bait if caught in the open, but the new cover rules benefit them. I use mine in small squads to assist other units in assault and counter-charge, never deep striking them. They can't win an assault on their own, but they can rack up wounds now and then.

Gargoyles are great models and should be better than they are. As it is, they're pretty awful for the points. Lictors are hit and miss depending on their deployment options.
