i went into my local GW yesterday to buy myself a box of boyz and a trukk, and ended up getting more than i bargained for

when i went into there, there was someone just finishing putting together 2 AoBR boxes, he was asking about to see if anyone wanted a quick game, no one wanted to (about 10-15 people in there) the staff pretty much ignored him.
he asked me, but i didnt have anything with me, so he let me use the marines and he used the orks, since he had less points i had a word with a friend and pinched 29 boyz and a PK nob from him to even it up a bit.

sorry, but i dont have any pics, i wasnt expecting to have a game while i was there.
i did write down some rough notes though so i didnt forget.

capture the objective, 4 objectives.

Armies:

mine:
AoBR marines x2

his:
AoBR orks x2 + 29 boyz and a PK nob

he got 1st turn.

Turn 1:

he moved up the boyz keeping the tight with cover, followed by 10 nobz and 2 warbosses.
his shooting wasnt so bad, he fired 3 TL rokkitz from the koptas at each dread, one was fine, other one lost his multi-melta.

i moved the marines forward sitting them in cover ready to fire next turn.
his deffkoptas were in range for the remaining multi-melta, down went 1 deffkopta.

Turn 2:

he moved 20 boyz onto objective 1 with a warboss, and another on to objective 3. The deffkoptas moved in closer.
he opened up with his big shootas, killing 2 marines from each tac squad, the 5 remaining deffkoptas took aim at the dread with multi-melta, blowing that clean off him and leaving me with 2 CC dreads.
i kept where i was with the tac squads, but moved the termies in behind a ruin.
both tac squads opened up, killing 8 boyz (crap!) the milles made my day by killing another 3.
the dreads assulted the deffkoptas in a nice little brawl (5 koptas, 2 dreads)
in combat the orks did nothing, while the dreads killed 3, they stayed put in combat some how 0_o

Turn 3:

he moved his unit of 30 boyz closer, using waaagh! to get them about 8" away!
he fired up the big shootas again, but this time i only lost a single marine.
the koptas done little or nothing again, but got wiped out in return.

i took aim at the mob of 30 boyz with 10 termies and the remaining 2 tac squads, killing 21 between them (Result!)
the termies decided to take the fight to them and charged in.
in combat a single termie fell, in return 8 boyz died (the nob ran for his life)

Turn 3:

he decided he needed to do something quick, so he dragged 20 boyz off objective 3 and moved them closer.
he fired up with big shootas and sluggas now they were in range, finishing off a tac squad (very un-orky shooting)

i moved the remaining tac squad forward onto objective 4, and into some nice cover.
the tac squad opened up on the boyz holding objective 1, killing 6 boyz, the dreads took some ork shooting lessons and shot with thier storm bolters, missing all shots -_-
the termies shot the boyz that had left thier objective, killing 3.
they then assulted the boyz, losing a member (3 left) but killing 5 boyz, combat was held.

Turn 4:

His unit of boyz with warboss and nobz held possition, refusing to move.
he shot the 2 remaining big shootas, but done nothing.
the nobs charged into the 5 man termies squad i had hiding behind ruins.

i shot at the boyz with the tac squad, dreads and 3 man termies squad, killing 11!
the combat went ok, nobz killed 1, but the boss killed 2 more, the nobz lost 5 of thier number (gotta love PF's)

Turn 5: (last turn)

His boyz held possition, with only a few remaining.
he shot again with the big shootas, killing 2 marines this time.
combat went ok, nobz did nothing 0_o the boss killed another one (leaving 2) the termies dragged 4 more nobz down with them, leaving a warboss and a nob there.

i moved as close as possible, keeping my tac squad on my objective.
1 dread, the 3 termies and what was left of the tac squad shot the remaining warboss and boyz, killing 3 -_- (leaving the boss and 1 boy)
the 2nd dread charged into combat to help with the warboss and nobz.
Dread 1 charged into his other warboss that was with his boyz.

the dread killed the last boy and survived the boss's klaw
the nobz, boss, termie and dread combat went badly.
the dread killed the last nob, but was blown up by the warboss's klaw :( the remaining termy missed the warboss.

Game over, i had won, out of 4 objective i had 1!

1st time ive really played marines to any extent, but i loved the game, i also found out how daunting orks are in low point battles.
we both had a good laugh about the battle and asked if i wanted to keep the marines since he didnt need them, i couldnt do that, so i gave him £40 to cover the marines half of both boxes.
now ive started painting up a BA army.

that had to be the best game ive had, it was fun, no problems with rules, and the guy i played was a pretty decent person, he was also around my age.

and on a final note: Sorry for any spelling, ive had a quick scan and cant see anything wrong.
also, details are rough, i should be playing him at 1,500 points next week, so ill take my cam and get another report.

Well, that's one of the more spontaneous reports I've heard. And it's always good to have another marine player join the ranks.

JD thats really wierd coz thats what i collect as well , i have 3500 pts-nids, 2500 pts-dark angels, 1000 pts-tau and im just about to start my ork army
