Can any one tell me what is in the Grendel/Ghoul (?) stars and what inhabits that area of space as I know Imperials have been told not to go there.

The only mention I have heard of them are in the new marine codex. They have to keep them away from the Tyranids or their deadly DNA would be incorporated into Tyranid evolution.

the grendel harbour the super violent bargreshi[not shure on exact spelling]. the tyranids would become insanely strong if they absorbed the dna of these creatures , as they these things are , well, uber violent. that is why these stars are gaurded by several chapters. and people avoid them to avoid the bargreshi.
