I can already see a problem forming, I really don't want to see the people on this site bickering over the current political situation in the US. It really does not serve the gaming community if to have members mocking / Flaming each other for no other reason than there different political ideology. While I am not against a intelligent political discussion I do feel that at this time people are acting on emotions and not rational thought and will invetiabley post something that they will regret later.

So if there is support for this idea I would like the mods to delete / lock all political post for the next week.

Then maybe we can get back to talking about Games.

We have like 7 billion other areas (that isn't exaggeration, you have to have access to the secret boards) in Dakka that all devoted to gaming, we should be able to talk about non-gaming stuff in the non-gaming area I think.

Good idea. Perhaps this will inspire me to buy and digital camera and pollute the internet with my own painting and modeling. Not that I'm feeling overly positive about the whole thing, since Me and technology don't get along.

Now that the supply pundit-pushed fuel for this particular fire will be petering out, I figure any fires will burn themselves out pretty soon.

Let 'em burn.

As a rule of thumb, the designers do not hide "easter eggs" in the rules. If clever reading is required to unlock some sort of hidden option, then it is most likely the result of wishful thinking.

But there's no sense crying over every mistake;

Perhaps many of you are too young to remember 1992 when Clinton was elected with both houses of Congress. He was wildly popular with young voters, broke all the rules by going on MTV and Arsineo Hall (where he played sax) and was going to bring change to Washington.

Within his first 100 days people were tearing him apart for blotched cabinet nominations, trying to put gays in the military and then for trying to reform health care.

AND THAT WAS HIS OWN PARTY.

By 1994 Clinton was wildly unpopular and Newt Gingrich was swept into the House. The Democrats lost both houses of Congress for the first time in decades.

Today Gingrich is out of office and largely forgotten except by political junkies and Clinton, his affairs and wife aside, is remembered largely as a centralist who didn't mess things up too much while in office. Which ain't a bad epitath but certainly not what was promised early on.

So in this twilight time as one president leaves and another is yet ot take office I predict in a few months we'll be talking politics like never before and people from both sides of the political spectrum will howling for Obama's blood. Up until now Obama has been able to promise change and hope, and many voters projected what they wanted into those vague notions. Once they crystalize into something real many people will be disappointed.

This is not the end of politics, it is just the start.

Too true...I remember that lovely time in American politics. I actually think that's what will happen in BHO's tenure. Pelosi and Reid are the kind of folks who feel entititled. Unfortunately they made a ton of promises to all spectrums of the left and most of them were promptly ignored when they got into power. Hence, the worst numbers for a Congress ever despite the dislike of the Republicans right now.

BHO, has moved more center (center-left) so it will be interesting to see how the most liberal Senator will be as a more Moderate President.

There are so many "factions" within the Dem left-wing machine that are shouting for their piece of the "pie". There is no way to appease them all and before the first 100 days it'll be blood in the water and the sharks will start eating their young.

Well, there is a way. Economic reform pretty well covers all the bases. Though there are, admittedly, a great many stupid leftists who don't understand that all their problems are linked. Hierarchy of suffering for the lose.

That’s a cherry picked version of history; Clinton winning, losing the senate two years later and then…

No mention of his emphatic 1996 win? Because once you consider that and contrast it with the declining fortunes of the Democrats in congress, you start to wonder if it wasn’t Clinton at odds with his own party, but the Democratic congress at odds with its own supporters.

So in this twilight time as one president leaves and another is yet ot take office I predict in a few months we'll be talking politics like never before and people from both sides of the political spectrum will howling for Obama's blood. If nothing else, the campaigning for the next election will be starting up in around month’s time, give or take.

And yes, I am aware of the irony of turning this thread into a political discussion. It is a very beautiful kind of irony.

“We may observe that the government in a civilized country is much more expensive than in a barbarous one; and when we say that one government is more expensive than another, it is the same as if we said that that one country is farther advanced in improvement than another. To say that the government is expensive and the people not oppressed is to say that the people are rich.”
