Ok been playing around with my son about a White Scars spin off the Astral Bears.

First I dig the Space Wolves figs. but the rules kinda suck, second I like bikes but the whole mongolian hoard white scar thing doesn't really do it for me...so

Figured a Space Marine Chapter based on American Indian lore would be a hoot!!! Basically play as White Scars, but be able to add some cool Space Wolf figs. also pretty easy set up for diferent companies...Cubs are scouts, Grizzly Bears Veterean, you get the idea.

Also you could do some really cool war paint stuff, if I run out of idea's could incorporate other wild west idea's ( Rough Riders for example ). Since the White Scars are in the West the Astral Bears can easily from the Dakota's.

Wasn't really sure of an overall paint theme, frankly I have been doing KOS so am sick of red, and green, was thinking black and white, or black and gold.

any feedback? O yeah it will be a while for me to get this going so am happy to let somebody else give it a go and enjoy it.

Sounds like a good idea for an army to me.

As white scars successors, are they going to be mostly mechanized? Rhinos are quite a bit better now, and it would tie them in to their founding chapter (without forcing you to buy a whole bunch of bikes).

Black and gold, or maybe brown and black/gold, would work with the name and look different from most chapters. If you go with black and gold you'll need to make sure that they don't end up looking like the Black Legion.

The Emperor doesn't seem to do much for you but you sure are expected to be mutilated, suffer, and die to make him happy. And is he dead or what? If he's entombed that would mean he's dead as a doornail, right? So, how can he be happy about anything you do, or even give orders to anyone? Are you worshipping the dead now? Is that something you'd really want to do? Because it sounds freaking creepy to me.

cool I didn't think about the rhino's, etc... that's a great idea. Was going to utilize extra scouts as well as they are more indian like, and I like the models. The idea of Rhino's and cavalry is very cool...

Was thinking about that paint scheme thing and I think you're right. However black and brown, well let's face it not a great mixture. Now that you mention it purple and black would be hot...was also thinking about adding stars as features in the paint job, either on the cloaks of chapter Masters, etc. or on the armor. Msabe some kind of purple black and gold...hmmmm

Cheers thanks for the feedback.
