Lemme see, George Dubya wasted trillions of dollars on a pointless, unwinnable war, his father George HW spent billions on a war that essentially betrayed a vital client state, and his grandfather, Prescott Bush sold aviation fuel to the Nazis during WWII. Obama's got to leave a better legacy than that.

So whom do we give credit for the stimulus packages? Bush or Obama? And how do
we tally up the overall cost?

It's a human nature thing. People always hate whoever's in charge. Same way most people hate their bosses. Doesn't matter what he does, it will be wrong. It's easy to hop on a president sucks bandwagon, all it takes is a few funny SNL skits to get the ball rolling.
Everyone has obama fever now. In 4 years, or maybe 8, most of today's obama lovers will hate him and make documentaries about how much he sucks and will only care about the next guy that will say he'll solve all our problems.
Rinse & repeat.

Never a truer word... some people might call you an old cynic. I say you hit the nail right on the head, and people are too short-sighted.
I don't know much about Obama and his politics but I do know this. If in 4 or 8 years time the economy is in the same state, poor Barrack will be a target for the frustration of millions. If everything works out A-OK, regardless of how he steers the helm, he can ride economic determinism into the history books. Good luck to him, I hope he gets lucky.

Like I said in an earlier thread, Obamaniacs are going to want to start seeing their wants/needs being taken care of in no particular order. BHO's first 100 days will be very interesting. It'll be a good foreshadowing of his entire time in office on how he deals with all the different factions that he's beholden to for their support getting him in office.
Warpcrafter - You may think the wars are pointless but BHO and staff are starting to get their classified intel briefings. That is the real ground truth stuff not the crap put out into the MSM. You might be surprised to see which direction his office takes after he gets some of the "straight talk". The stuff they have gotten so far is merely scratching the surface.

As indicated by Bush, a President has a vast capacity to immediately effect change in the realm of foreign policy. By his very existence, Obama has won America an enormous amount of support and undermined the notion that America is entirely run by, and in love with, rich white warmongers. Obama has done more good for our foreign policy by being elected than Bush has...well...ever. Our allies look forward to being more than lackeys, and our enemies have to challenge some of their basic assumptions about our ideologies.
I'm unashamedly PrObama. No doubt, we must speak truth to power, keep our skepticism locked in on him and ensure he follows through, but being skeptical and being cynical are two vastly different things. The latter will see us in the same, or worse, position in 2012.
Just my (rapidly declining in real value) 2 cents.
EDIT: The Onion, as always, is hilarious.
