Going to be putting my 2500 point Sisters of Battle army on e-bay soon, have people found it best to do it as a whole army or in individual units?
Cheers, Mick

I think it depends how it is done.

If it's a fully painted and ready to play army, sell it as a whole. (Assuming it is painted well). A well-painted army will get more as a whole because the buyer doesn't need to do anything.

If it is painted poorly, strip it first. You'll get more for unpainted/stripped than for poorly painted, which will actually turn many buyers off.

If unpainted/primed, I'd piece it out by units, as not all buyers will want the same selection of units that you had.

I know a friend of mine that has had a LOT of success with selling well painted armies on eBay split up into units.

It encourages a "gotta get 'em all" type of buying frenzy, as a potential buyer will be trying to get as many units as possible in order to maintain a cohesive feel/look to his new force.

I don't know how much success (or how high the price will get) if you try to sell off a nicely painted force all in one go.

The initial price might scare off many, or if you price it too low, you might let the lot go for too little.

Either way, good luck

if you are afraid of something being sold too low, you can set a limit/threshold so that if the bid isn't high enough, the models won't sell.

Really, outside of amazingly well painted armies (the type that reliably win best painted and turn heads even at GTs or big RTTs) you are almost always better off parting it out. Squads are a useful chunk, as you don't want to make the lots so small that shipping becomes a factor (you know, $5 shipping on a $10 item), but not so big that people will pass it up because it's not exactly what they want.

so, in general you want as small as possible without becoming silly with the shipping.

That's how I sell armies too.

If you are on ebay shoot for $6 USPS, shipping under 2 pound shipping wieght, on a lot price that is $40 retail actual value, at a starting bid of $9.99 to ensure it sells. Almost everything I post this way recovers at least 75% of it's original value.

Well finished things often do a little better.

Good luck.
