hello, i'm new here. well not really i've been reading and following a lotta threads on this site for a long time, just never posted or register until now. i'm in a sharing mood, and since i live in the middle of nowhere it's hard to find others interested in these kinda things. so here i am, what's up

i don't exactly collect an army per say. i like the blood angels and i'm in the process of painting up a jump jet army with lemartes and his flying buddies. i dont play 40k, cuz well i don't even know how to play. so yea i just paint them up for funsies :/ of all the things in 40k, my favorite has got to be the dreadnoughts. so i was sitting around one day with a bunch of plastic tubes and sheets so i figured i could made me a dreadnought and see what happens. that and cuz FW doesn't make dreads for blood angels, which i think is rude, they got dreads for pretty much everyone else and BA gets no love :( and this is my attempt at it. i didn't like the way the normal dreadnought's legs looks cuz honestly it doesn't look like they can walk :/ so i so i made it a little differently. and since i suck at modeling, if you're wondering why something i put on the model is odd looking, chances are it's b/c i can't really do anything else. i want some practice with this project b4 i start chopping up real dreads.

this is for size comparison with my modified lemartes which i still haven't finished painting yet >.< there will be the blood drop and wings on the shins. it has 3 toes cuz well i couldn't fit 4 on there. and on the left thigh is II, it was an easy roman number to model.

one day this will become the torso. i'll made the chest area looks like FW ones. this one will have ribs on it cuz i like how it looks on some SM i saw a bit back. and then wings on the sides of chest like the new FW's chaplain dreads, they looks neat

That will definetly be a different take on a dreadnought, with the long legs and all. I still don't have a clear picture on how it will end up, but that's a good start. The green stuff and plastic work look great already. I'm keeping an eye on this thread as I'm interested in how this will end up looking.

I have the results of the last chamber: You are a horrible person.
That's what it says: A horrible person...
We weren't even testing for that.

thanks for the support

here's the latest update.

finished the chest, added on the left and right torso parts and the back pack thingy.

yea, i realize that the legs are way tooo skinny to support the body, but as long as you dont look at it from behind, it's not too bad :/

gonna fill in all the gap with green stuff later

when i get to the base i'd like to have him stepping on a CSM that is broken into a couple of pieces

i was thinking of making this guy a Furioso dread and i've always wonder why dreads have fingers or claws, it's not like they're gonna pick up a fork and start eating some chicken. they're design to kill, so why not remove their hands and stick swords into them

Looks good! This one looks like it could walk instead of waddle like the regular dreads .

As for the legs: the main thing that makes dread legs look big is the armour, so a few armour plates should go a long way to help out in the brittleness department .

A Squeaky Waaagh!!

Camkhieri: "And another very cool thing, my phones predictive text actually gave me chicken as an option after typing robot, how cool is that."'

Meercat: "All eyes turned to the horizon and beheld, in lonely and menacing grandeur, the silhouette of a single Grot robot chicken; a portent of evil days to come."

He'll look pretty crazy between the long legs and sword arms.
Like he'll just leap into enemy units and wreak havoc.
It's a cool image.

Anuvver fing - when they do sumfing, they try to make it look like somfink else to confuse everybody. When one of them wants to lord it over the uvvers, 'e says "I'm very speshul so'z you gotta worship me", or "I know summink wot you lot don't know, so yer better lissen good". Da funny fing is, arf of 'em believe it and da over arf don't, so 'e 'as to hit 'em all anyway or run fer it.

Youve convinced me. Building your own dread from scratch can look cool. I will be building one now. Damn you! Do you know how many projects Ive got?!?!

Might I suggest longish arms to match the long skinny legs? Id do long arms gorilla style. The dread could be resting on its left sword arm while pointing its right arm forward.

Im curious what sort a head youll be making...
