Hello Everyone,

I wanted to let the Dakka community know about a charity tournament that I’ll be running on January 10th 2009 in Ypsilanti Michigan. This tournament will be a 1500point, 5 round tournament to be held at Gorilla Con (named after & sponsored by Gorilla Tactics Gamers Union). We’re going to use Ard Boyz like rules, meaning that scoring will consist only of combat points. You don’t need to have a painted army to compete, and you won’t be scored on sportsmanship.

For those in the South East Michigan area that don’t know me, my name is Chris Pelletier and I’ve been running events in and around Ann Arbor for about a year now. I love running events that support charity and everyone needs a good reason to get out and game. Proceeds from this event will go to support two charities: B-Side & Alternative Spring Break (to learn more about these follow the link below)

There is a door fee for the event ($8), which goes to the charities. The 40K tournament will be an additional $25, which goes to prizes (the total being $32). We're still working out the prize scale, but it looks like we will have the top 5 players receive prizes ranging from $400→$25. While this seems like a substantial amount, it gets better. The prizes are in the form of gift certificates to the Gorilla Tactics Gamers Union, which offer all GW products at 30% off. This means that the $400 first prize can get almost $600 of GW product.

There will also be a painting competition, and door prizes. Right now, we're thinking of giving away a Realm of Battle table as a door prize. Again, more specifics will flow in the next few weeks. I’ll post updates to this thread & I’ll have the GTGU people post them to their website.

Registration is open now. There are two ways to register.
1) You can email gtgamersunion@gmail.com
Include all of the following information:
SUBJECT: 1500 point ard boyz:
FIRST AND LAST NAME:

2) Call with a credit card
Call: 734-418-2817 or 734-330-7793
We will register you over the phone, and will need some billing info for security & verification of your payment. We will email you a receipt , please print this and bring it with you to the event. We will then add you to the player roster and finalize the registration process:

I'd recommend you to pre-register as there are only 50 spots available. We really hope to get full attendance.

Again, for all the information, check it out here.

If there are any questions, or things just don't seem very clear, post here and I’ll get to your queries. I appreciate the feedback and it helps us a lot. We'll be posting the prizes support in the next few weeks.

It should be a hell of an event. The prizes rival some of the bigger cons, but this one is only a fraction of the price to attend. Also, they guys at Gorilla Tactics Gamers Union will be on hand. All their GW & PP stuff will be 30%. If you’ve had some reservations about ordering from them in the past, come and meet them.

Here's a small update. I just talked to the other organizers of Gorilla con and we confirmed the prize scale.

Prizes! The prize support for this event is dependant on participation. If all 50 slots are filled the max prize scale will be:
1rst = $400 event credit
2nd = $200
3rd = $100
4th = $60
5th = $40

Event credit means you get that much $ to spend at the GTGU store. If you want GW product, then you get the standard 30% off retail. If you want something else from other game systems, you can use your money to get that as well.

Prizes!The prize support for this event is dependant on participation. If all 50 slots are filled the max prize scale will be:
1rst = $600
2nd = $275
3rd = $125
4th = $75
5th = $50

we changed it to reflect these numbers because you can take product on site, or you can take "CASH VALUE" and have a check sent to you!

the ammount is the same for either option.

Warmaster Primus was correct in his post but that was in "event credit" which made the cash value part confusing.
