First post! =)
Well this blog here will basically be a visual record of my mediocre painting skills - YAY!
I'll start it off with some Warhammer Fantasy Chaos Warriors I have done up for a skirmish game that I am currently writing rules for (they are in the play testing stage right now). This is four Chaos Warriors, each painted to one of the patron gods alignments (in order shown); Khorne, Nurgle, Slaanesh and Tzeentch.
As I have piles of miniatures that need painting the scemes are simple and the detail work is slight - bascially fast table-top quality jobs. The images fail to show a bit of the depth in the painting but I am still getting used to taking macro shots with my digital camera. The look much better on a table with terrain 2+ feet from your eyes =)
Over the next couple of days I will post the other starting skirmish warbands our group is playing; Skaven, Vampire Counts, Wood Elves and more Chaos.
This can also be found and followed on my blog - http://beholdpaintedstuff.blogspot.com/

Some people play for decades and still only spend an hour or two painting their models. My philosophy is if you spend a rediculous amount of money on your toys, why not take a little time to paint them? You obviously take your time with painting. They are crisp and clean, keep up the great work. Your skills will only improve with repetition.

May I suggest that on Mr Nurgle you give him a devlan mud wash? it would make him look more dirty and Nurglesque

Well that was a bit of a false start last November. Kinda forgot I was going to do this and then did a lot of procrastinating. But that is that and this is now and it is time to get the ball rolling. I've done a massive pile of painting in the last few months and will be taking pictures and posting regularly.
Here is a shot of a model I painted a LOOOONG time ago - pretty much when it first came out - which was quite a few years ago. I don't even think this model can be purchased from GW anymore which is a shame because its a very nice model.
It follows my pretty basic painting abilities of basecoat > wash/ink > drybrush > detail. Quick tabletop standard for the person with far too many models and not enough time to paint them all.
No rear shot because despite this sitting in my miniatures cabinet for so long I never got around to painting the backpack - its sitting primed and ready in my "To Paint" bin now. I'll probably do another shot when its complete.
I'm still not super happy with the way my photos are coming out - I need to mess with them a bit more in Photoshop - found some good tutorials and now just need to spend some time messing around.
Speaking of messing around - as I type this the gold on that plasma pistol is actually starting to really bug me. I think I am going to change that.
More posts soon! Really. I'm serious.

Sorry took so long to respond =(
The purple (its actually a bit more pink than shows in the picture) is black undercoat > liche purple basecoat > heavy warlock drybrush > leviathan purple wash.
Was really an experiment and I lucked out that it looks good IMO.

Woohoo! Two updates in a row! Let's get it on!
Ahem.
Alrighty here are some of the Vampire Count models I've been painting for our fantasy skirmish game.
First up is a Vampire Lord - awesome model. The cape looks sweet as hell and was fun to paint - I tried to see how much I could make it look like flowing blood. The bronze armor didn't turn out so well in the photo - lost some of its richness. I do wish I had mounted him on a larger base as he is a bit tippy - not sure I can get him off the one hes on without damaging him.
Next up is the Grave Guard. These are a bitch to assemble but are great looking models. I used the same paint scheme as the Vampire Lord to tie them together. Brass and black armor, crimson red cloth and details. I really enjoy painting bone and trying to get it to stand out - gotta pick up some regular skeletons. I am going to do 2 more Grave Guard for a total of 5 in this scheme, maybe do the other 5 in a different one. Oh and just in case anyone wonders I use purple as my standard "magic weapon" color (also for Power Swords, etc).
Ghouls!!! I am on the fence about these. They didn't turn out quite the way I wanted but they are so small I feel it doesn't matter. I like the style of the model but I do wish they were say 25% larger. Or even bigger - I kind of always though of them as looking a bit like hairless undead gorillas. Anyways - they are rotting green flesh, nothing special. Maybe I need to do a wash or something on them. I am going to paint a few more, maybe I will come up with something. =\
Last entry today are the Dire Wolves. I love these models - they look great and the dynamic poses are awesome. Great to paint! Rotting flesh, bone, exposed muscle. Going to do 5 of these for sure. Had a slight issue when I painted the second one as I had forgotten what paint combo I had used for the flesh on the first one - had to experiment and still couldn't get it quite right - its close though and a little variation it good I guess. I wrote it down the second time (as I am doing so with every model now) so the rest will look more like the second one.
So that is it for the Vampire Counts right now. I will be finishing up the rest of them in the next little while and will probably just do a big group shot when they are all done. I also have a Banshee and a Varghulf to go with them that I am looking forwards to painting.
Lots of more pictures to take and models to paint.

Like said before
Washes and inks will give your model the finish they need.
The dire hound/wolves do the muscle part with chestnut ink and the rotting flesh with a flesh wash or so.
Gouhls aswell a wash will take a way you want.
A litlle differnce in the rotting flesh isn't bad, never seen 2 items rott the same way.
great work
