Ok, basically I have decided on a paint scheme i would like to use for my thousand sons army and will try and convert to fit egyptian themes as much as i can basically i will have, 3x Defilers *made into scorpions*, 2x CCW Dreads with the front modelled into an Anubis Head or Osiris head /w Marks of Tzeentch complementing it, 10x Terminators, all will be given Lord of Change style headresses + frontal cloths, 2x HQ Sorcerors using Grey Knight Terminator models, will model over the grey knight markings and do a fair bit of conversion on this army, will post pics in a few days of some already painted 1k sons units in a blue / yellow scheme to show painting level. The paint scheme shall be Bleached Bone *Base*, Yellow *Trim/Cloths/Headresses*, Blue *Cloths/Headresses*, Bronze/Silver/Gold *Weapons + Mechanical Parts*, Gems/Other Objects *Light Blue/Green or Red* or a mix between each, Bases will be done in a Oasis Style, grass / water / egyptian ruins. a s a p I will be posting pics of painting level and soon after W.I.P pics. Basically i aimed for this army for the style i want to paint egyptian themed, with minimal amount of models to paint but enough to have quite a bit of power in tourneys but also be extremely fun, Dropping 3 Pie Plates / A Tonne of combi-melta / chainfists termies and duo sorcerors with combi-plasmas what could be more fun , not to mention rhinos with combi-meltas did i forget to mention i like to watch land raiders and monoliths burn, stay tuned for progress and updates.
List:
2x Grey Knight Terminators *Need To Buy*
10x Terminators *Need To Buy* / Have 5 AobR Termies but have the cash to buy 10x Chaos Termies, using AobR termie fists + leftover chainswords from 1k Sons sets to make chainfists.
2x CCW Furioso Dreads *Need to Buy*
2x 1k Sons Box Sets *Owned/1 Squad Mostly Painted + Sorc - need to strip*
3x Defilers *Need To Buy*

I think it would be interesting to see a Defiler converted into a "Scarab" pattern, as opposed to a scorpion (Seeing as how that's been claimed by Khorne already anyway). It would be much more imposing to see a giant Scarab beetle (and would appear much more tanklike) on the battlefield, in my opinion, and it would also fit the whole egyptian theme you've got planned like a glove. Not that it wouldn't be difficult, as I don't think I've ever seen it done before. But it would be worth it, if you can pull it off.

Ok, this is what my current painting level is at, hopefully i can improve upon it with a bleached bone scheme, also i will be premiering my defilers last due to the concept / design i have found that looks extremely egyptian, sorry it isnt a scarab but should look good anyway.

The picture is blurry / darkish due to terrible camera will try to fix asap.

I was thinking Anubis for a Greater Daemon, unable to find a model on the net so will have to convert a Ushabti to make it bigger and thinking Ushabti Daemon Princes, and for some Lesser Daemons just for looks i was thinking of making some modified crocodile games Anubis warriors or something similar.

I don't know...it's just that Scorpion pattern defilers have already been firmly implanted in the World Eaters image.

Ah well. It's a good idea. If you don't use it, I will.

Too bad I'm already having trouble with my Emperor's Children Defiler, seeing as how I can't sculpt to save my life.

I'd say maybe make some cultist "peasants" (maybe by modeling some WHFB Ghouls, that might be a good start) with chaotic markings carved into their flesh, lashed to logs and such, and put them on the bases of larger units. I think that would evoke ancient egypt really well. Maybe have some thousand sons torturing them or something.

YO DAKKA DAKKA!

I've always had a desert-themed Tzeentch army in the pipelines, though I had never associated it with Egypt... in fact, I'm deliberately avoiding the Blue/Gold/Yellow if I ever get any further on the project. Sand, bone, brown and black-robed was my scheme. I was sorting of avoiding 1KSons too, and just using Tzeentch heroes. I've only painted a Sorcerer so far, but the concept has been with me for a few years.

Sounds awesome. Don't forget chariots!

Picked up - a squad of grey knight terminators *best looking models to fit the thousand sons style and adding some egyptian style robes and headpieces and such.
Picked up - a Grey Knight /w Force Weapons Blister *didnt realise it was 2 models a blister bought 2 need to return one now*, an added bonus i noticed they have 4 bases in the blister thus converting one into a disc of tzeentch and i now have duo tzeentch sorcerors on discs with force weapons .
Picked up - two chaos rhinos, just going to paint the outside no interior detail.

Going away from a "desert" paint job but will be desert weathering / basing everything and also going to try pickup some Ushabtis and convert them into a pair of greater daemons, will post some WIP of my models soon unprimed and assembled /w some greenstuff work *also almost forgot to mention 1 of my grey knights had something strange with him right as i was about to glue him together it seemed he was missing an arm "has a hand /w force weapon but no builtin arm or arm in the packaging* have to take back to store to get a replacement also when trying to glue the Grey Knight Terminators together i almost broke down in tears as the 95$ i put into them wouldnt give me a decent product that likes super glue, in future will have to buy some paperclips and start pinning things together. Reason i didnt pin them is because i want to get all of this assembled as quickly as possible due to an upcoming tournament where i am a shoe in for first place, my list im working on building currently is

2x Sorceror /w Discs + Melta-Nades + Familiar + Bolt / Warptime / WoC *400*
6x Terminators /w Twin-Linked Bolters + Power Weapon *180* - Deep Striking
5x Terminators /w Twin-Linked Bolters *2 with combi-weapons* + Chainfists *225* - Deep Striking
8x Thousand Sons 1 Icon + 1 Aspiring Sorc /w Melta Bombs + Bolt of Change + Rhino /w Twin-Linked Bolter*319*
8x Thousand Sons 1 Icon + 1 Aspiring Sorc /w Melta Bombs + Bolt of Change + Rhino /w Twin-Linked Bolter *319*
8x Thousand Sons 1 Icon + 1 Aspiring Sorc /w Melta Bombs + Bolt of Change + Rhino /w Twin-Linked Bolter *319*
1x Oblit - 75 *Deployed*

Also to the guy that said dont forget chariots, i didnt the horses died trying to move a tonne of sorceror thats why i went with the discs .
