Not yet, but I'm a big fan of the series. I'm waiting for FFXIII to get a PS3.

oh yes. I do not want to degenerate into Final Fantasy chatter ("12 year old retards") but I was playing FFX until I got bored of the slow pace. I might actually pick up FFX-2 and FFXII.
Supposedly they are a bit more peppy.

I played it. There's only one reason to pick up this game and that's if you're a die-hard Final Fantasy VII fan. Seriously, that's the only reason. If you played the original and saw the new movie, THEN you can play this game but as a standalone game it's just plain boring. It tries to be like Devil May Cry and fails.
And if you didn't like FFX, FFX-2 and FFXII might not be your cup of tea either. Do you like roleplaying games at all?
@Arctik_Firangi: FFXIII will also come out for the 360, you know that, right?

I played the original, which was unexciting to me, beside being a decent game, and have come to enjoy the movie, to my surprise. So I thought I would play through it. Something about Barret leading an army.
I just found FFX to be ... repetitive/ boring. I liked the summons and building them up but I would have preferred something a little more exciting. Once I mastered the level up wheel thing it lost interest to me.
I got to a creepy forest part.
But no I am definately picking up FFXII at some point. Go PS2 I have only had it for my entire life.

360 can blow me along with every other Halo player. I'm no die hard VII fan - it was something else when it came out, to be sure, but every successor has been better than VII IMO. Haven't played XI because MMO disturbs me almost as much as subscription fees, and XII was quite refreshing, but nowhere near as involving as X was... I actually just bought X-II on eBay on Friday - just a matter of waiting for it to arrive. I've owned it before... wait, no, I borrowed it off a freiend. Finished it, but rushed it. I want to play it properly this time. I know I'm going to be slightly embarrassed playing it in front of my roommates, but I'm an RPG fan. They can f*** off and play Halo if they want. Further on XII - people who hated the turn-based idea supposedly liked it more, but the only people I knew were just determined to hate turn-based games. I have no such issue, as long as the gakplay keeps up. It's a beautiful, epic game, but I can't say for sure what others will think of it. I thought the characters were incredibly boring, the 'main character' has next to nothing to do with the storyline... The last boss left a lot to be desired - despite looking cool, it was the same irritating gameplay. The strategy falls out the floor, and it's all spam-this, over-drive-that, resistance-is-futile... X was the big one for me - I even have a couple CDs of the soundtrack in my car ATM. I hate enjoying things, because I know it distorts my opinion of them. Sigh.

XII = sort of sandy desrt tones with no flashing lights.
They all have airships.

yeh i played it, i must say i can understand why GS only gave it 6/10.
I got it purely because i was interested in how they have chosen to develop the FF7 storyline further (i found it in a second hand shop a week after advent children was released) i have to say i enjoyed it, its a pretty basic third person shooter with materia (in a limited capacity (i used the fire one all the way through) and limit breaks, however the story was good it felt alot like an MGS game where you have to play through the levels to get to the next cut scene to work out whats going on.
I enjoyed it mainly for the story that it tagged on to FF7 and all the characters were their (even most of the main characters are there in limited capacity, Cloud, Tifa, Barret, Red, Cid etc they were all their but this game is about Vincent, and throughout most of the story that is where the game stays focused).
And really was FF12 that good, it felt like a single player MMO to me which is why i got bored with it and the license system was more annoying than the sphere grid from FF10 and once i had the right gambits set up i only needed to move the analog stick around unless in a boss fight.

I don't get the complaints about the gambit system in 12. Nearly every non-boss battle in the turn based FFs can be handled by attacking or spamming the same spells, which is just as boring.
Also, I blame Squareenix for releasing the piece of dookie called Dirge of Cerberus in the US but leaving Front Mission 5 in Japan. They knew suckers were going to run out and buy it because it had FFVII slapped on it, much like the dumb movie, and boy were they right.
EDIT: Seriously, just read these two threads if you want to play it. Don't give anyone money for this awful game.

The gambit system was great, but a pain in the arse to switch around too often.. I mean, I thoroughly enjoyed XII, but I'm not compelled to play it again, unlike X and X-2. I got all of the summons except for one, and the Zodiac Spear sounds like a bit of a joke...
Don't get me started on the overdrives in XII. That's all the boss battle were - watching the same characters do the same crap 15-30 times in a row. Boss puts up a shield that makes him immune to magic? Overdrive him. Immune to physical attacks? Overdrive him. I'd have preferred the X turn-based game either way, but the overdrives mostly looked dumb with the exception of a couple of Summon ones... can't remember what the summons were called now. Espers? Meh. That's how much the game failed to capture my attention.
I'm not going to play through X again because I put half of 2006 into it on my most recent run, and did pretty much everything... didn't unlock Lulu's weapon yet, didn't finish the Dark Aeons yet, but I have the file still.

Insulting? I'm not trying to insult anyone. You're clearly trying to insult me. Who in their right mind would seriously call someone a 'nub'? Who, with any self-respect, would flinch at being called one? I don't like Halo. What's your problem? (Waaaaay OT...)

Why call someone something if it is practically meaningless? Why assume that it was nub or Halo? I don't really care for Halo either, but what I do dislike are fanboys that make such foolish statements as you have made. In a thread about FF: DoC, and tangentially about the FF series you took the time to make a pathetic fanboy statement about perfectly fine system, one that many people on this board own I might add, and a game that has absolutely nothing to do with anything going on here.
Dirge deserved the 6/10. It doesn't really do much for the craptacular FFVII universe and is a mediocre shooter with slapped on RPG elements. Still, shooting things always has it's appeal. The map and camera system can be annoying.

Then accept an apology, and take me less seriously. I don't know where you got 'fanboy' from - you're again directly targetting me. The post in question was slightly relevant to a previous post, and I really am sorry if you take it that hard. You did choose to focus on the irrelevant part. By the way, would you care to highlight any of the good points of FFXI, since you seem to be of such a reasonable general disposition on the subject of gaming? I've only heard from 'fanboys' myself, and have seen little gameplay other than the original trailer long, long ago. Sorry Taco, back on topic.... Try X-2 if you like rewards for completing things. I found it pretty rewarding for the week I put into it, and intend to play it again, as I said. XII will be a much larger investment of your time - I'm not at uni any more so I don't have anywhere near as much of it myself. I also found it unsatisfying. I have a friend playing through Dirge right now, but haven't seen it, and I don't personally have a comment on it. I've never trusted opinions of FF games from non-players, so I need to see it for myself.

I am a big fan of the ff7 universe, and Vincent was one of the most interesting characters imo. With that said, I didn't really enjoy this game a whole lot, it all just seemed a little contrived story-wise. The gameplay was decent, but I liked HALO better.

Bah, they're still too expensive.
I don't really need a console that can run Linux, but I would prefer it to an Xbox. My computer can run anything that either console can, but they'll never port a classic CRPG title just for people like me.
